I've been adding useful accessories for the world's favorite action camera, and the YDW Remote Control for GoPro, is one of the latest to make it into my collection. This little wonder is one of those things you didn't know you need until you see it. Its OLED screen shines with useful data about your device as well as control buttons to assist your workflow. The unit is compatible with numerous GoPro models which really enhances its functionality. I found the screen easy to view when outdoors, and the battery life is spectacular for such a tiny device. Useful metrics such as both remote and GoPro battery levels are listed as well as the connection signal, the capacity remaining, and more round out the information on offer. The kit includes both a wristband as well as a lanyard, giving you options on how it can be worn. I honestly don't know how I ever got along without a device such as this before, but now the YDW Remote Control for GoPro, has earned its place in my gear bag. Be sure to make a place for it in yours.

Battery life is much greater than my old GoPro remote and this works great! Used iI in extreme cold and in the trail. Meets expectations.

Other reviews mentioned that it was difficult to get the wrist strap through the remote. I managed that part but when I tried it on tightening the strap broke the flimsy plastic the strap threads through. This piece of plastic is thinner than a toothpick. No idea how it works otherwise. It was broken within a few minutes of opening the box while just checking it out.

This is a great remote! I have other remotes for my GoPro but none as convenient with extensive control. It can be worn on the wrist using the included Velcro Strap or carried separately using the included wrist lanyard. The face has three buttons and using them I can turn the remote and camera simultaneously off/on and switch between various video/timelapse/photo modes on my GoPro.The watch face has a high-resolution OLED screen and the remote features an easy to read menu that tells me exactly which mode I'm in. Using the two lower buttons, I can change individual settings within modes. The upper red button is the shutter button and the mode icon silently blinks to let me know when the shutter has been activated. The watch shows me the battery level of both my camera and the remote, signal strength, how many cameras I am controlling (up to 5), recording time, remaining memory capacity, what mode I am in and does so using both icons and labels. The remote has a built in battery that is recharged using a standard USB-C cable which is included. Battery life is excellent. What really impressed me was the distance the remote signal can successfully operate. The reported distance is 269' but I know that's only under ideal circumstances. I set the camera up outside about 60' away and it had no problem operating it through walls and doors. That makes it super convenient to use it for photographing wildlife and events that may be unpredictable in timing. One thing that's no so good is that it's not waterproof. The design looks like it might be but the ad clearly states not to use it swimming or underwater. I would also prefer a little better quality wrist band as the one in the package is very thin.Bottom Line: Excellent featured and well executed wrist remote control for many models of GoPro cameras. I used it with my GoPro 10 and it worked flawlessly. Bright OLED, easy to read screen, three button control and long distance effectiveness. For the price, convenience and level of camera control it provides, I think it's a bargain!

So far I have been reasonably happy with this. Definitely beats the price of the "Official" unit.Paired with the GoPro easy-ish; slightly confusing process, I think I went in to the pair menu and it automatically paired; I kept trying to fin it in the menu until I realized it was already working?Once paired, the controls are mostly straightforward enough, though it is somewhat limited in the options it can change, but enough to get the job done. The connection seems stable enough, and at least for ~20 minutes or so, the remote can actually turn the GoPro on and off. After a while though, you'll need to turn the GoPro itself on first (presumably to save battery). The "watch band" that comes with it is questionable. I have an 8-inch wrist and it fits me with a tiny bit of room to spare, but it is not enough to fit over a jacket or something. The material of the band feels nice, but also feels flimsy; not sure it would stand up to repeated abuse. The hook-and-loop attachment to itself likewise feels "maybe good enough, but not up for abuse"...Finally on the topic of the band, as the picture tries to show, the design for the band installation is TERRIBLE. It is a straight-in-cut/molding on the plastic body, which I'm sure was cheaper, but means that tools like a pick are required to install the band. It just feeds vertically straight in from the bottom, and stops. There is no smooth fillet or chamfer to kind of guide the band around the bend. I had to use a tiny alan key to sort of pick at the band and get it to feed through. I guess you're not exactly going to be doing this very often, but it is certainly a bad design. In my testing around the house and one day up skiing on a sunny and warm day, this worked fine. I'll be real curious how it stands up to the cold, though. Hopefully well enough. So, in summary, this works well enough for the price in my testing so far, though there are certainly elements that show why it is cheaper than the real thing...
