I use these for a 1 gallon water distiller. The 1000 watt elements never got the water to boil. These 1440 watt pieces boil a gallon in 80 minutes. Water starts to boil after 20 minutes and then for the next 60 minutes water boils until the distiller is done, about 1 gallon.I've gone through 3 of these already. I use a timer to tell me to unplug the distiller, because the original heat activated breaker switch is inoperative due to having to have a new heater element. The new ones don't line up with the bracket, blah, blah ,blah and I'm not about to pay $100 for one that will from the company.So anyways, if you leave the distiller on too long and the element boils away so much water that it hits the air....well...it simply shorts out. I hate that, but I've gotten better at replacing these elements and the house isn't burning down, so I'm just trying to get better at hearing the timer's alarm, but at least you don't have to worry about your house burning down if the distiller doesn't shut off in time.

This item was purchased to replace an obsolete Bunn coffee maker element. The original element was a 4 bolt 2000w this one was only 1500w but does a great job. It fit in with no hassle.
