Literally the only shelf that stayed intact and kept my belongings safe when I got a foot and a half of water in my basement. You definitely want to assemble it in the spot you want it, because the pieces become loose when you're moving it. And the particle board warps when wet. But otherwise sturdy when standing.

Using the word "industrial" is quite a misnomer. The pop metal bends easily by hand, and there are NO fasteners of any kind. All of the parts just slide together. The shelves just sit in notches on the upright rails and the press board shelf is 3/16th of an inch thick...there is a reason why they also send you something to strap it to the wall with. It works for the light work I needed it for, but do not be deceived - this is NOT a stable, steady shelf like you'd find in any business.UPDATE: I bought a second one of this same item, same price. Amazon puts this same review on both, so I can't review them separately. The second one is not the same dimensions as the first one. It's about 3 inches shorter, 4-5 inches shallower so that the same cover does not fit the second one. On the ad it says it's the same size. I'd send it back if I hadn't already assembled it.

Saw that these shelves were stated at Heavy Duty for a cheap price.Unfortunately they are not heavy duty, more like a light duty shelving unit.If not careful you can accidentally warp the metal supports, the wood slabs are thin and the stability is a bit questionable, but since I bought two, I connected them into an "L" shape using the connector pins and it is holding up well, probably have a few hundred pounds on them spaced out among the shelves.So while not heavy duty, they still did what I wanted them for and are still holding up after storing some heavy items on them for about a month straight.So I would purchase some more if I ever need some again, they were extremely easy to put together, about 20 minutes for both and that includes connecting them together with the pins.

I never write reviews, but this one I had to. For over $200 for 3 pieces, they are not worth the money. I bent 2 of the side pieces by hand trying to get them into the slots. By Hand and i'm not a super strong woman. So they are not heavy duty at all. I'm sure the seller is a nice person, but these are just not worth the money. They are fine if you don't have anything heavy to put on them, but if you are using them for heavy items, I would have gone back to my local box store and purchased the actual heavy duty metal shelves that have the thick wood for shelves. These shelves are like thin particle board with what is the weakest metal i've ever seen for a shelving unit. I'm a chocolatier with heavy ingredients and I will not use these shelves for any food storage. Ill use them for my empty candy boxes and other light weight items. I hate to leave a bad review for the product, but honestly, I wouldn't waste my money.

The instructions are clear. Sit with them and look them over BEFORE you tackle this. I'm really pleased with it. Ordering another one right now. Stable and strong enough to hold all of my pantry items, including small appliances and multiple cases of soda. Most important tip: don't be gentle with the rubber mallet. You need to really bang the little thingies into the slot. If you don't, your unit won't be stable. Trust me.

I got this because I really needed the exact 40x20 size so I took a chance.I will recommend for dry and light storage, not for damp, liquids, or heavy duty items.#Pros:- easy to assemble- lightweight- simple to build- price is good compared to others- comes with a small mallet if you don't have one#Cons:- the planks are pressboard which is very porous and some came chipped already. I plan to primer, seal, and paint these boards which adds more cost and time but should help extend the life- keep away from any water or soaps, any liquid will destroy the porous press board- the boards seem flimsy, so any heavy or items that may puncture, can damage the boards.- id feel better if they sold the boards separately as replacements.#Tips:- if you have a jigsaw or saw, you can make better boards with sturdy wood- use a large rubber mallet to assemble, do not use a metal hammer. the small mallet it comes with is not good at all- for the small black plastic plugs, take the two pieces apart, insert the "female" part into the joint hole then press the "male" part firmly- make sure both 2 circles are through the holes before hitting with mallet, one circle can sometimes not be in place

I've got about 1000 Lego sets stored in my basement, I keep on buying new ones, and my shelving needs keep growing. I just redid the entire basement with some new shelving units similar to this, and while they work fine, and hold everything without issue, they were more cheaply made. I may have saved 5 or 10 bucks per 5 shelf set, and you could tell the difference trying to get the shelving suports in their little tabs.THESE, on the other hand, are MUCH easier to assemble. None of this tab into slot junk. Their assembly process is so much easier and quicker. I had one of these done in half the time the same sized other set took me, simply due to the ease of placing the supports and thumping them in place with my rubber mallet.I only needed one of these, and I had assembled it, not as a single 5 shelf unit, but two units, with 2 shelves and 3 shelves respectively, and came back upstairs to write my review, and saw they're on a 13% discount. I don't really NEED more right now, but I bought two more sets anyway while they were on sale, since I know at SOME point I'm going to want more shelves again. May as well get these while they're costing less.Definitely will be my go-to for inexpensive shelving moving forward.
