My grandson pulled it out of the bag, put on the mouthpiece and blew us some loud calls. Wow it sounded great! He said he was going home to his basement and practice more bugle calls. He will take it to scout camp next summer. As a Christmas gift his mom said I "nailed it."

After seeing the reviews and video I settled on this bugle. The finish is outstanding and came with a tote bag and mouthpiece. As mentioned in other reviews the mouthpiece is not right, at least for me. It is too small the best that I can gather after reading up on mouthpieces. I will be shopping for another at a music store where I can try them out before purchase.Update: I ordered two new mouthpieces, a 3C and a 7C. Made all the difference in the world for me to make a sound play several notes. The original piece was too small.

Decent sound for the cost. Didn’t want to send my scout to camp with his $1200 trumpet so we bought this figuring it wouldn’t be the end of the world if it got a little beat up. He’s used it for a year with no complaints. He even played taps at his grandfather’s funeral and received complements from the honor guard (they showed up with one of those ceremonial bugles that play a recording). The only negative was the mouthpiece- he said it wasn’t comfortable so we swapped it out for the same type of mouthpiece he uses with his trumpet. We like that it came with a carry bag, we put an insert in it to give a little more protection to the instrument.

I bought this to play taps, reveille and retreat. As it happens, I can't play any of it. However, it annoys my wife and dogs pretty well! I haven't given up on it yet. Although last Saturday my in laws came over, and my wife wants e me to show them how good I was a playing taps on the bugle. I knew she was toying with me, because I realize I sound like a drowning cat. Anyhow, I indulged her. I actually get the first 3 notes out perfectly. I have their attention. My mother in law indicates she already had goosebumps. Jill was amazed that I actually got much better at playing it. But when I went on to play the next three notes, I knew it was going to get a bit worse. I got the 6th note, where the key gets higher and I had to really blow hard to hit that note. My mother in law, now looking hopeful that I'll get that note right, was let down. As I blew, I must have pushed to hard. A thunderous rumble from down under, came blasting out, along things that make you run for the comode. I was not shocked in the least, that they didn't ask for an encore. However, my father in law says at least I play as good as I feel 😑

Great for Scouts. Not too precious to use at Scout Camp...survived still intact. Good sound quality. Nice beginner bugle

I ordered this Regiment Bugle, because I want to learn to play Taps. It is a simple bugle, but very light weight. It came with its own mouthpiece, and a nice carrying bag. The item looks exactly as advertised, and it came exactly within the time advertised. I know it is going to take a while to learn to play those four notes, but I believe it will be worth it. I am pleased with my purchase. (Addendum) It has been almost a month now, and I am trying to play it everyday. However, I have noticed several things with regard to this bugle that are disappointing. (1) There is corrosion around the end of the mouthpiece, and where it connects to the bugle. Both places are showing corrosion. (2) There are signs of rust in the slide area of the bugle. Actually, anyplace where air can be pushed through, is showing signs of discoloration. (3) The tip of the bugle - where the mouthpiece fits - is now discolored a dark brown. I don't think that should happen in the small amount of time that I have been using it. Very disappointed.

I bought this for my scout troop (we have 4 buglers!). The bugle sounds clear and has a good tone. I am no bugling expert, but for the money it sounds fine, and you won't stress so much about it getting a dent or two.
