After wrapping this around the exhaust pipe of my portable AC unit, the heat radiating from the pipe was dramatically reduced. Big difference in efficiency!

I bought this originally to wrap a hose on a portable AC unit. It worked fantastic. I takes a little patience to first start wrapping, but it's good for the layering to be thick to really insulate the tube. I decided to not tape it to the hose so I would be able to move the unit and readjust the hose as necessary.I had some left over so I used some pieces to cover the sides of a window unit and I noticed an incredible difference in temperature. Even just one side you could place your hand up and feel about 5-8 degree difference coming in the through the window. Used some silver tape and then covered it all up with a thermal barrier. Hopefully it will really improve the insulation and prevent loss through the window.

I have to say WOW. Simply exceptional product. It's a 10-star product. I bought it to cover the exhausting hose of a portable A/C I bought. The hose that was supposed to extract the hot air from the A/C got really hot, and it was made of plastic, thus, transferring lots of heat back to the room where A/C was installed. This reflectix spiral pipe wrap really did the job it's made for. Room temperature at all times in the night were no lower than 82 Fahrenheit degrees (28 Celsius degrees). Now, I'm amazed, I've tested the A/C to see how far it would go as cooling the room, I'm reading now 71 Fahrenheit degress (22 Celsius degress) just as a test, normally, I set it to shut off the compressor at 75 F (24 C). At first I thought my A/C was having an issue, then I realized the hose was the cause it did not reach lower temperatures. So, if you're having issues with your portable A/C, this is the product is going to save you a lot of money in electricity bills and it's gonna cool your room as never before. This is an unbiased review about this product.

Used in connection with MD Products Pipe Heating Cable w/ Thermostat to hold heat around pipes that connect to a clothes washing machine located in an unheated room. Was easy to apply and appears to be ideal for this application. Should save money as it replaces an electric heater on a timer that came on every night weather it was below freezing or not.

Got a new portable A/C on the 28th, put it together and insulated the exhaust hose using two rolls of this and two rolls of Reflectix wrap tape.Leaving the A/C to cool down my room, with a picture window and two casement shutters on either side, facing due West... it's easily touching 90+ degF during the afternoons, when the summer sun pours in and heats its ~150 sq ft to roasting (lately the heat index puts the temps at 99 and humidity at 99% some days, which for Maui is Florida like misery. After about an hour, the insulation was hot to the touch. Yes, I made sure to wrap tightly and tape back any leaks (it was so sturdy after my due diligence, it was easily able to hold its own shape). It was about as hot as touching your own forehead with a high fever, so over 100 degF. That was in stark contrast to the Internet saying this was miraculous stuff, claiming to be cool to the touch in dryer and other portable A/C applications.I am also a bit miffed that the wrap makes its host exhaust hose so inflexible after applaication, that it can tear the snaps out of the window adapter after moving the A/C a couple of inches. Those two faults in themselves are forcing me to try a larger accordion hose around the plastic stock hose, so it can preserve its flexibility.Didn't pay a ****load for these two products... but I'm glad I didn't, with the expectations it failed to live up to. Exhaust heat insulation in a portable single-hose A/C unit is crucial, due to the proximity of the hose to the intake air inlet(s). Make it suck in hot air, the harder (and longer) the unit has to work to reach your desired cool temps.

Used to wrap around my portable air conditioner hose and really makes a difference. My hose was hot and since the air intake is right on the back of the unit (as are most portable units), all it was doing was sucking the hot air from the hose, causing the unit to be inefficient and use lots of energy. I cut 18-19" length strips and wrapped around the hose overlapping about 1" and sealing with foil tape on the way up until I reached the end. The temperature after wrapping dropped way down. Did not measure with a thermometer but can instantly tell by the touch how much less heat radiates off of the hose. It still does get a little warm but nowhere close to as hot as it used to. Gives me a little more peace of mind knowing most of the heat is going OUT the window and not radiating back into my apartment. Cheap too definitely a good deal will pay itself off it a few A/C runs. Make sure to get the Reflectix tape or some type of foil tape; makes sealing the wrap much easier and tighter than conventional tape or duct tape.
