Mounted right up with skid plate on. The hitch will make it harder to remove the skid plate as the mount is directly under the middle bolt with about 3 inches of room to access the bolt. I will see how difficult it is to remove come next oil change. I didn’t drill the holes in the frame cause I am only using this hitch for a front bike rack but it seems easy enough if you need to drill or need the extra mounting point for something much heavier like a plow. Took me about 20 min total to remove row hooks and get the hitch mounted and bolted down solo. Definitely one of the easier hitches I’ve had to mount. Bolt holes lined up perfectly unlike the Curt hitch I tried to mount previously so that made the purchase that much better.

You have to drill 2 new holes for bolts to attach to the frame. It’s almost impossible to drill through the thick steel of the frame. Had to buy a $50 dollar cobalt drill bit to get through the frame. Ended up breaking the drill bit I just bought and had to buy another. So, another $50 bucks. Had to use a car jack to put pressure on the electric drill to move upward and help create a hole in the frame of the car. Cannot use a battery drill. Have to use an electric heavy duty drill. This is not an easy task.Your better off getting someone to use a torch to make the hole in the frame.

Works good on my truck, tougher than the snowplow that it was attached to. According to my mechanic it was easy to install.

This thing is so heavy I don't know if I can manage to install it by myself, probably not. I believe it's a good receiver, but it's too heavy for one man of my age to install; after reading another review, it probably won't fit anyway! I sure don't plan on spending 2 or 3 hundred dollars to have someone drill two additional holes in the frame of my pickup and install it, that's for sure. If I can't get it installed, I'll take it to the landfill and throw it away, because I don't intend on paying for return shipping. Two stars, that's it, take it or leave it.10/08/14: It fit like a glove, but I needed help installing it. I used the two short Toyota bolts on the driver's side, and the two long Toyota bolts on the left side and reinstalled the factory tow hook, because I misplaced the bolts that came with the hitch. I don't intend on drilling two additional holes in the frame for two additional bolts, because that's an Obama-type installation and I don't have any interest in ... well, you know. I'll have the rear of the hitch spot-welded, because I'll never take it off the truck anyway.

I have had no problems with this receiver. Mounting on an 02 Tundra, you must remove your skid pan and your tow hooks. You also must drill an additional hole on each side for a couple of more bolts. This is obviously needed for the torque that this receiver can handle, otherwise you'd probably sheer your bolts. The receiver looks good and handles my winch very well.

Hitch was easy to install, took about 1/2 hr. Looks good, I like the integrated tow loops. Only complaints, it appears to be angled down a bit(not level) and it reduces approach angle as expected. Good price, good buy

Mounted without a "hitch." Very strong. All of the hardware was there. I believe the truck frame would give before this receiver would.
