Three flats on reduced shank

Reduced shank drill expands the size range capacity of a portable drill chuck. Three flats on shank eliminate bit spinning in chuck.

123

118 ° split point starts drilling immediately requires less force and eliminates “walking” across the working surface. Scientific design, sharp and wear-resistance.

used to drill truck frame for snow plow mount. shaft bent while drilling 4th hole. would work great for wood or lighter application. you get what you pay for. spend a little more and your work won't be interrupted for two or three days waiting for a replacement.

Worked pefectly. Much better that the other tools I tried (Hole Saw, wood bit). Very solid construction.

Needed to make a larger hole, in 1/4" steel (22mm to 23mm}, 4 holes total. First one did ok. Second hole had a lot of trouble, but finally went through. 3rd & 4th holes, went in about 1/16" and that was it. Bit kept dulling and required sharpening.

I got this specific size in mm because I was tired of drilling up to the size then sanding to get my actual size. I did it once but that’s a chore. I work with SAE but my project required mm.The size of the bit I received is not 21mm. That’s the main reason I purchased this bit. Attached photos show various undersized measurements I took at several areas on the bit from the end of the bit tip to the start of the shank. The 3 flats on the shank are so slight it may as well be round.I had trouble getting the bit to chuck up and had to really hold onto the bit to get my chuck to tighten around it. I do not have this issue with my Fisch twist drill bits. The cut isn’t smooth at all and left choppy fragments. Albeit sanding is usually required after any drilling, more was needed to sand than should have been. Why can’t any of these MIC products be of good quality? And we continue to buy….I will be returning these and looking elsewhere. And so far I’ve found nothing here.
