When I installed my Android Auto head unit into my 2012 Hyundai Sonata the stereo outputs analog (RCA) which is then connected to a digital audio converter box where it converts to the digital signal that goes to the amp in the back of the car. Either in the head unit or somewhere before that conversion to digital it was picking up some noise. The problem (and I saw others facing it as well) is that when I'm not playing music I could hear whine from the engine, matching the RPM of the vehicle. For me it wasn't a deal breaker - most of the time I'm listening to something and I'm not an audiophile. However it wasn't ideal. This device inserts itself via RCA jack into that line of audio. I wasn't sure it was going to help, because it depends on where the noise couples onto the lines, however after installing the device I no longer get the noisy whine. I'm not noticing any issues with the music either, though it obviously has to be filtering it to some degree, but doesn't impact my listening as far as I can tell and definitely is a good trade off.Worked for my application.
