I bought this to tow behind a 2008 John Deere Gator. I called Swisher to ask about the engine/HP options, and they recommended the 11.5HP, saying that the larger engine does not actually improve performance. This does cut my overgrown fields and brambles well, but the hitch system is absolutely TERRIBLE. It looks like it may have since been upgraded - so do not buy one with the pin hitch, with the vertical rectangular piece that has the holes in it for adjusting height. It loosens up after about 10 minutes of mowing, causing the mower to either pitches forward or backward significantly. In my opinion this makes it unusable. I called Swisher and they acknowledged the issue, but could only offer to sell me a $400 upgraded hitch system. My mower is still under warranty but they could not help. I am going to try to make my own solution, which will involve welding.

I've used this twice since receiving it two days ago and it works great. The height adjustment mechanism is easy to use. It starts on the first pull and runs flawlessly. It tows easily behind my Kawasaki Mule and cuts extremely well. We have forty acres and use it primarily to clear the tall grass along the fence line. The only negative thus far was with the delivery company - Ceva Logistics. They scheduled and confirmed delivery to occur between 0900 - 1300. The driver didn't arrive until 1700 and his only explanation was "only four hours late???"

Great mower with a fatal flaw. If you mount the console assembly(the bit that engages the blades) on the trailer tongue as per the instructions it will fall off and end up under the mower. The cable isn't really long enough to mount it anywhere useful on your ATV so mounting it on the trailer tongue looked like the best option. After 30 minutes of operation I hear a loud bang and of course it's fallen off and gone right under the mower. The cable is long enough to let that happen. My yard is 6 acres of mostly flat ground. Now I have about 300$ worth of repair to do. The console and mounting plate were destroyed, as well as one of the blades. Hopefully their parts department is quick so I can get the remaining 3/4 of my lawn mowed.

It will not start. I have called Swisher, left messages, no call back. No one wants to help.

This is a very dependable mower. I am a 61 year old woman running a 15 acre horse farm by myself in Central California. Although we haven't had a lot of rain, we have had enough to make the pastures grow seemingly overnight. Mowing them with the Swisher has been great. I tow it with my Gator. It starts every time and is rugged. I did manage to shear off the two hitch bolts when I hit a 6 in diameter log hidden in the grass, so make sure your mowing area is free of debris larger than 3 in in diameter.

This mower works as promised. It took some time to assemble, but was pretty easy to assemble. It cuts through some pretty heavy brush and thick stalks. I'm giving it a "4" because I don't like the height adjustment. I can't tell the height of the blade. When moving the crank to raise and lower it doesn't feel like it is doing anything. It becomes a trial and error exercise. I need to start cutting to see where the blade is, then raise or lower as needed. It is very sturdy, handling a very overgrown pasture with ease. It is easy to start.I'm pulling it behind an ATV which is a little difficult because you can only mow at about 5 miles per hour so I'm constantly feathering the throttle on the ATV to maintain speed. I mounted the control unit on the ATV rear rack, which is working very well. Overall I would highly recommend this mower.
