The build quality, the form factor, the buttons and joystick, the companion app, are all perfect. Especially, unlike backbone, Razer's well designed app is free to use for life.BUT! If you have a phone with thick camera bump, you may wanna skip this one. I don't use cellphone case, but after using the controller a few times, I noticed that the fit is soooo tight that the lens of my iphone 16 pro max is scratching the controller(or the controller scratching my lens?) . Anyway, I don't wanna risk my lens getting damaged using it, it's a no go for me even though everything else is perfect.

I picked up the Razer Kishi V2 as an alternative to the Backbone One, hoping for a strong mobile gaming experience. While it has some great customization options, its app integration and overall usability leave a lot to be desired, especially compared to Backbone.Pros:✅ Extensive Customization Options – The Kishi V2 offers a lot of control over button remapping, something Backbone almost completely lacks. If you like to fine-tune your setup, this is a plus.✅ Decent Build Quality – The controller feels solid in hand, and the button layout is comfortable. It’s a good fit for extended gaming sessions.✅ More Neutral Branding – Unlike the Backbone, which leans into PlayStation or Xbox versions, the Kishi feels more platform-agnostic, which is nice if you’re not tied to one ecosystem.Cons:❌ Poor Game Store Integration – The Kishi app’s game store is frustratingly incomplete. For example, Dead Cells on Netflix doesn’t even appear as a free-to-play option—it only shows the paid App Store version. Backbone’s app, by contrast, correctly recognizes Netflix Games. It makes me wonder how many other platforms are missing from Kishi’s store.❌ Xbox-Centric Design – The Kishi V2 heavily favors Xbox Cloud Gaming, with dedicated sections in the app. I primarily play native iOS games (Apple Arcade, Netflix, emulated retro games), so this focus isn’t useful for me. PlayStation Remote Play doesn’t get the same level of attention.❌ Overly Clicky Buttons – The Kishi V2’s buttons are excessively loud and feel a bit too tactile for my liking. While some feedback is good, these are noticeably clickier than they need to be, which can be distracting—especially in quieter environments.❌ Hidden Search Feature – Unlike Backbone’s intuitive search, the Kishi’s search feels buried in the UI. Finding games takes more effort than it should.Final Thoughts:The Razer Kishi V2 is a decent alternative to the Backbone, especially if you value customization. However, its weak game store integration, and loud buttons make it less appealing for me. If Razer improves Netflix Games support and refines the UI, it could be a more compelling option in the future.

First and foremost, my phone wouldn't recognize the controller. Says Android 12+, my phone is on 14. I also couldn't connect the phone app to my computer. I made sure all apps were up to date and restarted both devices. No luck.Received it as a gift and was super excited when I got it, but a total disappointment when I got it. the ONLY thing that I got to work was connecting it to my PC via USB cable. The wireless part didn't work at all.

The fact that you can only use the thinnest of cases with an iPhone 15 Pro makes this a pain to use. Having to take your case off to switch into the controller defeats the purpose. For the price, you just don't get enough value from the controller on top of the lack of compatibility.

I used the Lightning version of this product and wasn't entirely happy with it. Connecting and removing the phone was always a bit troublesome. Well, along comes the Kishi V2 to solve those issues. I use an apple fine woven case and with the rubber pads removed on the Kishi V2, the phone and case load and remove easily. The Kishi V2 is very light weight and connects to other compatible USB-C devices, such as tablets and laptops, through the charging passthrough port. A competing controller out there forces an unnecessary subscription cost on users for this feature. I am happy Razer has kept away from this sleezy practice.

I was a big fan of the Kishi V1 (aka GameVice Flex). It was the first gaming controller I used for my phone. I loved the feel and compact design of it.When I upgraded to iPhone 15 Pro Max, I couldn't use it any longer. It was a huge bummer. So, stopped gaming for a while on my phone. I usually play while on flights, and with some trips coming up, I wanted to be ready.First I bought a Backbone One since I could pick it up at Best Buy down the street. I. played on it for about a week, but kept dreaming of the feel of the Kishi. I just really didn't like how the Backbone felt. So, I decided to order the Kishi V2, it was night and day for me. While a slightly different design in the trips, it felt like I had my old controller back. I switched back and forth between the two controllers for a few days, and returned the Backbone.I do miss the original design. I felt less previous about it and could toss it in my bag without taking up too much space. The new design feels fragile to me, not to say it is poorly built. It's a quality product. But with the expanding center piece, I now need to put it in a case out of fear it will bend or possible snap in the bag I carry. That being said, I love it. I'm able to game again on my iPhone. And the controller just feels right. It really comes down to preference. So many people love Backbone, but if you were a fan of the original Kishi I think you'll be more than pleased with this. Unless the day comes they bring back the old design for the latest iPhone.
