... because it actually is a genuine MLB baseball. Rawlings is the official supplier of baseballs to MLB. Per MLB rules, a baseball must weigh between 141.75 to 148.83 grams (mine weighs 146.0 grams) and have a diameter of 2.86 to 2.94 inches (mine is 2.89 inches). The cover and stitching on my example are perfect and super-tight, stamped with the MLB logo and commissioner's signature, as it should be. Also, the packaging identifies the ball as having been assembled in Costa Rica, that being the case for some time now.
