This leg brace is every bit as good as the one from the doctor, and was actually suggested by my orthopedic PA. The one from the doctor was going to charge my insurance $700, of which I would have had to pay $260. This one, at about $45, is a MUCH better value, especially since I actually only needed to use it for less than three weeks for my fractured ankle. The Velcro straps hold very securely and allow for an adjustable, comfortable fit to accommodate fluctuating swelling as the injury heals.

My husband has used this every day since we received it!! The air that you can pump around your leg / ankle / foot is great. The one issue is my husband hates how little air gets pumped in at a time. At 1st he was stomping me before it was inflated the way it needed to be. I was talking & distracted him one morning and he let me pump it til it was inflated like it should be. I could tell the difference in the way it pumped. He realized how much more protection it gave him, so we got that issue straighted out.Although, it is a walking boot, my husband can't put any wait on that foot. So we can't really tell you how comfortable that feature is.His surgeon and the nursing staff at wound care was impressed with the boot, and they fully supported him using it. The only concern was that he took it off at night. Which he does. The size seems correct. We even got the cover designed to go over the boot. Although, he uses that at night rather than use disposable booties. If he was ever going out when it's raining, he would use the cover. Provided he realized it was going to rain before he left home.I feel so much better that he has this boot to protect his foot. I can't imagine anything more appropriate.

I am very impressed with this brace! I wear a regular women's 11-12 (depending on the shoe) and the medium fit me perfectly with a sock on, with toe room to spare. It is very comfortable (for what it is), with a padded liner that holds with velcro, then five different velcro straps over that to adjust fit, plus a pneumatic feature to apply pressure to combat swelling. The sole is shaped like a gentle rocker to assist with gait, and has a non-slip outsole. The quality of manufacture and materials seem to be very good, and the whole product is well-thought-out, in my opinion. It is easiest to use it to remove all the straps from their holders and open the liner fully, then back your leg into it all at once, not try to put it on like a boot (it helps me to sit in a chair with the brace straight out on a coffee table in front of me, or on the bed with the brace straight out on a chair in front of me - a harder surface under it makes it easier for me to put on). Close the liner with the velcro, then put each strap through its holder and apply appropriate pulling pressure to attach it. I found it's easiest to start at the bottom and work up. They are easy to adjust after being attached. The inflator works by pressing/squeezing the red ball, which takes a bit of squeezing to add decent pressure (the ball does not hold a lot of volume). Remove the rubber cap near the ball and press the metal valve to relieve the pressure. The brace is quite comfortable on me and I can wear it all day without being bothered by it. It is very helpful if you need immobilization. And the nice thing is it will fit either leg, so you don't need to order a left or a right brace (although at this price, it would be affordable to). I definitely recommend this device to anyone who needs one.

What I like about this Walking Boot:-- once I apply this boot, it holds my foot/ankle/lower leg steady (it's a little bit like wearing a cast; but, unlike the cast, I can remove this boot and put it back on when I want to), providing great support while I am on my feet.-- the boot is curved at the bottom (rocker sole), so that, with each step I take, I do not put my full body weight on the foot/ankle for too long. Less pressure on the foot/ankle increases the chance that the injured area will heal faster.-- the air pump gives me the option of adding compression on my foot/ankle/lower leg if I had swelling (associated with an injury) and wanted help in getting the swelling down. The pump works well, and I like the compression on my lower leg/ankle/foot. Pressing the button quickly releases the air.-- the 3 pads are great. I put one pad each on: the top of my foot, the front of my ankle, the front of my lower leg - these are the areas that don't have as much muscle, and the pads help to provide cushioning against the straps.-- the straps (with their hook-and-loops) hold strong-- There is a tag with instructions for cleaning the liner: "......hand wash in cold water using mild soap; do not bleach; line dry only...."note: I let the liner air dry inside the house (for faster drying, I press a dry towel against the wet liner), without exposing the liner to direct sunlight.-- I would clean the bottom of the boot with wet wipes (and sometimes use a brush, if needed) to remove dirt/debris.Overall, If I had a foot/ankle injury that required a walking boot to help with the healing process, this Braceapedia Walking Boot would work well. It has the additional feature of the air pump to provide compression to promote faster healing.

It was far too small. I wear women size 8 shoes so selected a medium size. It was far too narrow, and the footbed was too short with my toes sticking out the end. It may be a perfectly good product if you pick a size larger than what is recommended by shoe size.
