A nice little cooker to have. It works well, I like to have boiled eggs for breakfast, and this has been working well for me. It's a nice addition to my kitchen.

This product is not practical. First, it takes a very long time to boil eggs, which is unacceptable. Secondly, it was scrapped after only a few uses.If possible, I would return it.

NOTE: You should be aware ahead of time that this egg cooker has preset timers and temperatures (in Celsius); you cannot change the temps at all and you cannot change the cooking time, except by turning it off or unplugging it.The cord is separate and plugs into the unit as well as into the wall, and you are warned to not get it wet at all, which can be nerve-wracking when emptying water from the unit after use. The small heating element is on the bottom directly beneath what you're cooking, which can make for the bottom of your food more cooked than the top of it.There was almost zero info on web page when I ordered, just one picture and nothing else. But I figured it was an inexpensive option to cook myself some eggs with minimal work, so it was worth a try.EGGS:My first attempt was to make 4 hard-boiled eggs. The cooker takes 5 minutes to get up to temperature and then the 15-minute timer begins, which seemed a long time to me. However, the water never reached true boiling, just simmered in a cycle, so I didn't take them out early. Then I removed them & dunked them in ice water, and found that with each egg, only half was cooked, and the other half (the half that was above the water level) the egg white was runny and the yolk half was only soft-boiled. I determined that this was only for little eggs, not for L or XL size chicken eggs like I usually buy. I may try filling with more water next time to see if that makes a difference, or just use 2 eggs laid on their sides rather than 4 upright eggs. The unit doesn't get as hot as I expected it to. I even was able to touch the water after I removed the eggs, and it wasn't burning hot like boiling water would be (I don't recommend this, just in case other people's units run hotter than mine).CUSTARD:I'm very happy with the custard option, since I'm not a fan of making it. The metal cup holds about 8oz or 1 cup of liquid. I figured out that 2 of my large chicken eggs equals about 1/2 cup, so I mixed that with 1/2 cup of water as per the directions and set it to go. Again there was a difference from top to bottom when it was done; the bottom half seemed slightly overcooked, sort of tasted like scrambled eggs, while the top was smooth & creamy the way custard should be. Next time I make this, I'll try shutting it off early and just let it sit in the steam without the heat element on.While it has imperfections and can definitely be improved, I still like it, and I plan to keep fiddling with it to see what tricks will give me a better result. In addition, at only about $10 when I ordered, I think it's a pretty good value for what you get, though I wouldn't spend more on it the way it is now. If they made some improvements to the design, I might get another one for my egg-loving son. This might make a good gift for a single person who is clever, college student, etc. to play with in the kitchen.Four steamy stars from me!
