This synthetic fiber brush offers a high capacity for paint retention. The wavy undulating shape of each fiber creates spaces on the bristle that hold an increased amount of water molecules in contrast to more straight and slippery conventional synthetic fibers. The wavy fiber technology allows for these synthetic fibers to hold twice as much color.

Recommended by an instructor so got me one. Love the balance and grip. It does hold a lot of water. Great for loading up on a big surface or spreading water or paint.

The Raphael SoftAqua Synthetic Squirrel Watercolor Brush in Quill size 2 is a true gem for watercolor artists. Despite being synthetic, the brush mimics the softness and absorbency of natural squirrel hair remarkably well, allowing for smooth and fluid brushstrokes. The quill shape of the brush offers versatility, making it suitable for both fine details and broad washes. This artist has a LOT of paintbrushes in her studio. Literally hundreds of them. Which ones do I reach for the most? My Raphael #2 or #0 without question. I appreciate that no squirrels were harmed so that I could make beautiful creations and yet this well made synthetic brush is better than the real thing in my opinion. It's worth every penny.

Bin sehr begeistert!

Came with 15-20 bent hairs trapped in the plastic tube protector, but it looks ok after I wet it and let dry bristles down. Fantastic size and price, holds a lot of water for a synthetic brush! Love love love, and will buy again! 100% recommend!

This is a really nice brush. I used it quite a bit today and only had 2 stray hairs. I find it's normal to have a few hairs fall away the first use or two for this type of brush. Holds a ton of water and pigment and delivers evenly with no surprises. The only think that could be better is a finer tip but it's still very nice and smooth to use. Don't get me wrong it does come to a nice point and holds it's shape nicely. I just like a really sharp and fine point. Still an excellent brush and I would purchase again.

When I first used this brush I didn't care for it and planned to return it, but after using it a couple of times, it has grown on me. I think I'll keep it.The negatives: The outer bristles on this are cut short while the inner ones are longer. This cut makes it difficult to paint dry brush techniques with the side of the brush or to paint long, expressive curves as the bristles end up flaying. It's a bit chunky, like a mop brush with a point, and seems to work best with a fair amount of water. Because of its fat center and short outer bristles, this brush takes getting used to. The wires that tie the handle to the brush are not covered and the pointy ends of the twists stand out.The pros: Despite the man-made fibers, it does hold a lot of water. After a couple uses, it softened up and felt more like a squirrel brush than any other synthetic brush I've tried. The bristles bend and curve and hold that shape nicely (when wet). The pointed tip makes it more versatile than the average mop, capable of creating a thin to thick line. While it is possible to paint with only this brush and a rigger, add a quality medium round brush and you have a serviceable set.
