About this item

Rafaeli was founded in Paris, in France in France in 1793. Rafaeli has been a manufacturer that has been historically recognized as one industry, and has been continuing to make brushes for a long time. In the year of Rafaeli (1793) and in Japan, it was the time that songi and Chigarakura were competing in the five years of Koshi Edo. In Europe, famous painters such as Picasso and Cezanne, they loved the Rafaeli Brush. With the knowledge and network cultivated in a long history, we have the raw hair sourcing and processing system that only Rafaeli can do. In addition, this brush is made with craftsmanship that has been passed down over generations without cutting the edge of the hair with a blade, and each piece is handmade and made in a style that is the same as it was originally established on. For more than two centuries, Rafaelian brushes have been polished to the demands of millions of painters, potters, and stained glass authors in France and beyond foreigns.

I have painted minis for many many years and I wish I had invested in brushes like this before. The difference is stark. This brush keeps an incredibly fine point and seems to hold more paint so you can paint for longer before applying more paint to it. My painting has stepped up a significant notch and my details are far sharper. You have to look after it. I clean it in my water pot every five minutes or so and use 'The Masters' brush cleaner which you can get on Amazon and lasts for years. Also, only dip paint to about a third of the hairs. And never use speed paints or metallic with it as they will wick up into the ferrule when you rinse it, and dry in the ferrule and cause the hairs to splay. I've used it for weeks and it is still in perfect condition - see photo. Thoroughly recommended.

Alors oui le pinceau est de bonne qualité CEPENDANT aucune protection au niveau des poiles pour la livraison. Résultat des poiles abimés à la réception

No problem with the brush but I have to deduct a star for shipping. No bristle guard on a $26 brush?! Got lucky and it seems to have made it ok.

It's a good brush. Definitely a staple size for miniatures. The fact that they are imported and made with real hair means that it takes forever for you to get your brush in the mail and i feel like charged twice what the brush is worth. It really comes down to the painter on a choice on a brush like this. The brush is great holding paint at the tip and is easy enough to clean. Using it with any extra pigments paints and inks is not recommended. Using this brush on washes or metallic will dull the bristles and make it harder to clean and gum it up. Experience painters wont have any issues with this brush, i have found an equiv and adequate replacement for this brush at michaels that i use for the harsh paints and inks. Cleans up easily enough with proper care

These are high quality Kolinsky brushes. They are very fine tip and used for detail work on miniatures. They are the best brushes I use. Not for general generic painting. Care needs to be taken to protect the brushes from misuse. Theses brushes will last a long time with proper care.

I purchased this brush and it was unfortunately badly frayed. I thought I was out of luck considering I didn't get a chance to paint until just outside of the return window. I have to shout out Jackson's Art Supplies for still sending me out a replacement despite the return window. The replacement is perfect and exactly what I needed for small details on miniatures that my size Raphael 2 sable brush was too big for.

The Raphael Kolinsky Sable brushes are the best I've found at the price point thus far for model and miniature painting. They have great control, the bristles snap just the right amount and they hold paint well. One possible downside is they tend to come with a label on the end of the handle which might irritate some people depending on your grip, but it is removable and a little acetone or alcohol will get the adhesive off of it. All in all, I'd say you can't go wrong with these brushes for model and miniature painting. To compare them, I like them just a little bit more than the Windsor Newton Series 7, primarily because they don't have the guide hair which is tends to bother me personally, but they are generally on par otherwise.

This is my husband's favorite paintbrush for painting board game miniatures. He is just starting out but can already really tell a difference between real sable and the large set of synthetic brushes he started with. He says it holds more paint and makes painting much easier. He pretty much only uses this brush and wants a second one for metallic paints. Definitely good quality.

I have a W&N s7 and this 8404, size 0 and another 8404 size 5/0. The 8404 is my most used brush, it handles perfectly and always comes back to a perfect point. I use brush cleaner after every use, and store it tip down for drying (but of course in its protective cover for the bristles). I use this for painting Warhammer, have never used it for anything else. I also like the orange end it makes it easy to find it amongst my other brushes when I'm painting, as I use a few other sizes for various other uses

This brush is worth the money. I paint miniatures for Tabletop RPG's and had been using the brushes that came with the Learn to Paint kit, and some others I had bought from Hobby Lobby. I thought I would try a more expensive brush. So glad I did! Makes a huge difference in the amount of detail I can precisely paint, like eyes. I will be buying this brush again if it ever wears out.

I am a painter of 25mm scale pewter and plastic miniatures, and found this a very good brush for this purpose. When I first received the brush, it did not appear to come to a very fine point, but when the brush is wetted with water and/or paint it can be drawn out very fine by simply pulling it along a paper towel. The body of the brush is capable of holding a good amount of paint, and the tip has fine control. I have used it fairly extensively for two months and it shows no signs of wear. It is miles ahead of a $6 brush that you can get at Micheal's or AC Moore - I would recommend this brush to any Miniature painter.
