No longer driving a Semi, but still use this for my personal vehicle. Easy to read display, route options are great. Probably useful for a O/O to track fuel hours etc. Has just about every TS out there and Wal-Mart locations, great for finding places to stop for the night. Touch screen can be a little slow sometimes, but otherwise I've been very pleased with it.I wouldn't recommend getting the wi-fi traffic, if you don't have a mobile wi-fi unit that feature is useless. I can sometimes link it to my phone's hotspot but it's spotty at best. It'll find wi-fi a ways out, but not my phone 3' away. It also doesn't find "free" wi-fi to update traffic, you have to log on each time (but that's just the traffic add-on and not a reflection of the rest of the great features of this unit.

My husband is a truck driver and has used this model for years. I had used another brand, and several years back when I replaced it replaced with same brand - mistake!Purchased one of these for me and took my first trip with it - am sold!Perks:Shows mile markers on the InterstateTells you your exit number and distance (old GPS told you every major cross road and to go straight!)Shows your speed and posted speed (if you speed, it will tell you "speed warning" which can be muted)Let's you know when you get off an exit which way you will turn at the end.Easy to add/find something in route (major discount store, favorite restaurant chain) and tells you what is ahead of you! (Old GPS use to tell me about places 2 exits back!)Easy to change the route to what you wantQuick rerouting when you "miss" a turnThe feature I enjoy is I prefer to be zoomed out when on major roads, and it will zoom in on a turn then back to MY zoom preference when the turn is made!Yes, this is a truckers GPS, but you can change things to where you are in a car and turn off the semi options. It will still tell you about low bridges (tells you clearance about a mile out), hazards, and if you connect it to your phone's mobile hot spot you get LOTS more features!Well worth every penny!

Nothing wrong with the delivery and the product does work, but its the most annoying GPS Ive ever owned! Little things it does irks me to no end. THe long names for exits instead of just a short brief name for the exit. Instead of exit 9, it gives you 5 different names for the exit and strings them like an endless sentence that loops until youve finished the exit..., turn off 34 hr/8hr break warnings, but it goes off without fail EVERYTIME YOU TURN IT ON!.., there are other warnings you turn off, but it tells you anyway and stays up on screen until you hit it off! Im mid traffic trying to make sure someone doesnt do something stupid infront of my truck and make my turns and then I cant see my directions due to some non important warning I said not to display! Hearing its voice makes me want to step on baby chicks... Then finding their naming for a location can take time as well... Little things combining to annoy me.

Where to start.. For one thing, I am a Professional Driver and I use a GPS device about 90% of the time. Let's get one thing straight right off the bat. Too many people using GPS devices tend to blame every address failure on the device, I was one of those people. These devices as you know use GPS satellites to determine their positions, 24 of these Sats are being used. The main reason for address failures is because State DOT people don't forward the information to the mapping companies http://www.gpsinformation.org/dale/mapmakers.htm . I used a Garmin nuvi 465 for around 2 yrs, I now have this product. Rand Mcnally was the first company in America to make a GPS device exclusively for Truckers. This device has so many capabilities, you can do so much more than with a Garmin or a TomTom, I've used both. You have to do some research to change your gps POI and Favorites files to use on this device. Use The Extra_POi_Editor V5.91 and your file manager to accomplish this. Please read your Manual for best results.

First off I am independent truck driver. I have driven trucks for around 20 years. I have gone from calling dispatch on a pay phone to using Bluetooth linked to my cell phone. I resisted investing in a GPS simply because of the lack of really accurate routing. Things like construction, detours, low bridges and over passes have caused me to be caution and simply call to get directions. But I finally caved and this unit is a OK device although it has some bugs to work out. For one, not every fastest route is the best route. I tried it out the first time and it may have taken me a authorized truck route. But I had a lot of turns through a business town of Greenville, SC and I had hazmat on which I programmed into the GPS. A simpler route (albeit longer) should have routed me down Interstate 26 to I 85 and just off a exit would have been my delivery point. A much easier way and safer in my opinion. I have learned to go over the route and look at options. A better solution is to get closer and then enter in information which would base it better on the way you want to go. Also, entering in information driving down the road is impossible, its touch screen has too small of boxes and is not very sensitive. I had to repeat entries at times. Also the voice is very annoying about any over speed but does help on alerting you to sharp curves, weight stations and other important information. Keep it updated and construction information is available. Its a good unit and far more useful then a GPS for cars. But its just a tool and you have to learn how to use it and understand its limitations to take full advantage of it. Its like my cell phone. Its only good if the battery is charged and I get a signal from a tower.
