I recently purchased 2 of these. The first unit arrived brand new (double boxed), but on one of the sides, both bolt holes that attach the slide rail bracket to the shelf were stripped. The second "replacement" unit was an obvious return (single box), where one bolt hole that attaches the slide rail bracket to the shelf was also stripped. Both shelves were returned. This appears to be a common complaint and probably the main reason for the "frequently returned" text is found on the description page.Having said that, IF the shelf didn't have stripped bolt hole(s) or IF I wanted to fix it myself (why waste my time and money fixing something that's brand new and shouldn't need fixing?), then it would have been pretty solid. The slide mechanism was smooth and everything felt well built, minus the stripped thread(s). But due to bad quality control, I was forced to return both of the defective shelves and look elsewhere.

The unit itself it good quality, but the included hardware had stripped threads so I had to replace a few of the screws because the rails were a bit wobbly.

These sliding shelves allowed me to mount my Thorens turntable inside my cabinet and slide it out for use. It's very strong and slides easily.

Arrived safely and timely. No damage. Easy to adjust length of rails to fit from how it arrived, in the 14 inch position into the 20 inch position my rack required. The depth from the front of rack to the rear supports is 20 inches. I didn't inspect to determine if this could extend beyond 20 inches though. Two screws on each side. As for its sturdiness, well it has zero "play" or sloppiness in the fully extended position, which is 14" out from rack face. Plenty of reach for my Presonus 16.0.2 mixer. My mixer is 16"x16" and if you need greater depth, consider a piece of Masonite board affixed to this drawer or perhaps a thin sheet of aluminum or tin? The available space back of the 24 inch shelf allows for deeper length of gear, if your rack is also deeper, like mine is at 20 inches. Just a thought.BAD INFO ... hete is the "but"The sliding rails prohibit mounting another rack unit directly below this unit because of how these rails extend just a little bit too far below, like 1/8th inch, enough to leave insufficient room. Now, a blank faceplate yes, if I cut just slightly on each side, then I determined I could mount that, but definitely not a device.I also used a Black Sharpie marker to "paint" the shiny metallic ends of the rails, mixes in better with the All Black front appearance. I hope my thoughts help. I read everyone's notes and they've helped me a lot.Oh, BTW if needed, you could add several XLR connections into the front of the drawer/shelf because the 1ru space is available and would easily accommodate 4 to 6 circular cutouts to mount them. I believe it won't deteriorate the integrity of the physical structures support. That's my opinion. Cheers !!

Not much to say apart from it works well. I like it and it does the job for holding my laptop and making it easy to control my servers.

Pro: Excellent quality, slides well, stays in place when closed/opened, about 19” of travel, comes assembled, will support lots of weight, and I’ll definitely buy another.Con: 1) Could use a handle. 2) When installing in a rack (19” wide), it had to be inserted at an angle and lowered into place. This required me to remove a switch and patch panel. Not a big deal, just slightly annoying.

This is excellent. I have paid 3x the cost for similar hardware with less then pleasing results. This rack drawer is awesome. Inexpensive, strudy. Easy to mount.Used it for my av rack. Placed my VR/HTPC on it. Slides smooth. No more wrestling with the entire rack to work on the PC. Holding 40lbs with no issues. Also, I cannot believe how quickly it shipped. From order to arrival was less then 24hrs. I was blown away.

Love it. Its strong which is good since it will be holding a an expensive laptop for my bands in ear monitor setup. Delivery was much quicker then i expected especially days before christmas. With this shelf you can also flip it upside down and place something inside the shelf instead of on top of it like its pictured. I am doing this for security rails for my laptop and to only use 1U of space instead of needing more room for anything on top of the shelf when its pushed into a rack. Width of the interior of the shelf is 15" and depth is 13" incase you do what i did.
