It was bit of work to cut into the down spout to install this gadget. It is working ok and has collected quite a lot of rain for us.I have an asphalt shingle roof and have noted the initial flow is colored yellow and dirty, possibly from sun-caused release of chemicals in the shingles and the dust in the air settling on the roof during dry periods. I discard that water and wait for a clearer flow. That means I get a bit wet. Also, I don’t still know how “good” the collected water is. I use it only for my hanging plants!

The product is good and I have four rain barrels. The only issue that I have is that I wish it would come with the hose. Other products like this come with the hose, but this one did not.

I got a few rain barrels and didn't know how to modify the gutter system to route to the barrels. with this collection diverter kit, you are able to adjust the amount of water you want diverted to the barrels. the installation is a bit complicated are you need to do some cutting but overall it's not too crazy and does a good job once the diverter is installed. please make sure you install it the right way and no upside down as you will not be having a good time. I know it's common sense, but you never know in this day and age.

This is a wonderful option to divert rain from your gutters, to a collection barrel. The diverter connects to your down spout inline, and provides an outlet for hose connection. The water is diverted via an internal plate that is adjustable, to increase or decrease how much water is diverted. An adjustable metal band is included to attach a hose to each diverter, as is an end cap. Installation is pretty straightforward, and these diverters are designed to fit standard 2x3 inch down spouts. The diverters appear to be well made, and are free from defects.

Conserving water is a topic that is on the top of our minds lately. We've been looking at creating a rain water capture system for the garden. These install in the downspouts. You need to cut about six inches of the downspout out and replace with this diverter. You can than have the hose connector from the diverter to your container to capture rain water. The diverter has a knob to adjust how much rain water you are diverting, in case your storage is full. I think they are a great addition to our garden, pretty easy to install and I would recommend.

Silly me, I’d thought that we had standard-sized downspouts attached to our gutters when I ordered these diverters… but no, it turns out that we actually have the much larger 3”x4” ones. So these diverters sat under a tarp in our yard for months until I finally remembered to order adapters to make them work. GREAT NEWS! We were able to use two 3x4”-to-2x3” adapters — one above, then one below — without any problems at all to finally install one of these rainwater diverters! For those of you who are surprised if you have the larger gutters and downspouts, there is what turned out to be an easy fix. Best practice is obviously never to assume you have standard anything, be sure to measure first, so extra steps won’t be necessary. Now that we finally have the first of these two diverters installed we are very happy with it, and will now figure out which of our many downspouts will put the second one of these to use with a second rain barrel. This diverter really works well now that it’s finally installed, FIVE STARS!
