Thought this would be the perfect fit for our new gate but have come across different issues. The description says rain proof BUT IT IS NOT. It doesn’t rain too often in CA but lately it has been pouring and ALL of mail, including important tax documents, have been ruined because there is a pool of water inside. On days that it doesn’t rain, my mail is shoved in and gets torn because of the narrow opening. I don’t recommend.

Mail slot hole is very small if you get large amounts of mail. Also not water proof. It rains a lot where I live and there is always water at the bottom of the box.

Well made, but definitely not rainproof. I even had the installer drill two holes in the bottom as my neighbor said her similar mailbox filled with water every time it rained soaking her mail. Still had wet first class mail when it rained last week.

We needed to put a mail slot and drop box into our shed door for tenants to drop off rent checks if we are not available. This drop box was very easy to install and very sturdy. Overall, a very good value. Would highly recommend to anyone. Very well packaged too.

Use case:Mailbox for USPS mail, counted on front yard fence.Pros:-Metal is thick and powder coated well. Seems sturdy.-It looks attractive from outside the fence.-Can retrieve mail from yard side of the fence so I don’t worry about my puppy running out into the street while I get my mail.-Low profile and doesn’t stick too far into our yard.Cons:-*Soaking* wet mail. Though I bought the rainproof option, rain easily gets into the box. Rain comes in at the top, but there are no drainage holes at the bottom, so the box has standing water inside when it rains. Mail is literally soaked through when I get it out of the box if we have had rain. The rain hood protects from rain entering the front, but does not prevent rain from running into the door on the back.-Our mailman hates it so much he kindly took the time to tell me so and show me why. It is incredibly difficult to get a magazine or larger piece of mail into the box. When the front mail door is opened and mail is put in, the chute and upper part of the box are so shallow that the mail has to be bent downward to go down into the box. If the box were a couple inches deeper/thicker (in terms of depth from door) there would be more space for mail to go down into the box. As it is, magazines and 8x11 pieces of mail must be forced in through the slot and down around the slope before they can fall into the box below.-Related to the above issue, this holds one day of mail. The volume of the box would hold several days of mail. But mail from day one blocks mail from being able to make the bend down into the box. Yesterday we had 5 or 6 regular-sized envelopes delivered. Today we had one magazine delivered. The magazine could not be forced into the box.-The security baffle/tines make it more difficult for mail to be pushed down around the angle of the chute into the box. There is no way to remove the baffle/tines security “feature.” I used an angle grinder to attempt to saw them off, but I can’t get the grinder into the corners to saw them off all the way across, and I have been unable to remove the flapper piece so that I could grind off the tines in the corners. There are several things to love about this box. But for the purpose of mail delivery, it has two significant flaws. It takes on and holds water, and it is very difficult for our mail delivery person to put mail in, especially magazines.Suggestions for improvement:-Sell a variation of this box intended to be used outdoors, with weather protection for the rear as well as the front.- Drill drain holes to allow the exit of water that does manage to enter.- Enlarge the opening and thicken/deepen the box to make it possible for a magazine to be dropped in rather than shoved down.-Provide an option for easily remove the security baffle/tines that damage the mail and make it more difficult to put the mail in.With those changes, this would be an excellent box of the quality is otherwise maintained.

This exceeded my expectations for finish and strength. It is far more sturdy and heavy duty than I thought it would be. Plus the key / cylinder works nice and is better quality than most / is dual sided (key is non directional so it’s quick and easy to use). The included mounting hardware is also stainless so it won’t rust up and leave streaks on the door. And the trim plates cover the cut edges of the door hole for a clean appearance and easy install. Very happy with it so far!
