Installed this along with my Mr Cool HVAC air handler. They gave a tube on the one side that works well mounting screws etc. I bought some silicone tube on Amazon for the other side and ran it up to the return duct. Can slide tube up and down and stays in place to set to zero. Works well, happy.

Bought this for my radon system. Not sure how necessary it is because I can hear the fan run. Should show a lost in negative pressure over time I guess.

For installation, search “Installing And Understanding Radon Mitigation System Manometer” by Heathy Air Solutions on YouTube. However, ensure you drill the hole in the pipe about two inches lower than the top of the manometer. Also, when you get the manometer, it might not be even on both sides or set to 0. Don’t worry because it adjusts by sliding up and down. As for it not being even on each side, that is also normal. It will even out once you take the tube stoppers off the top of either side.

My old gauge cracked and the fluid was gone. The company that installed my radon system suggested I go on Amazon for a cheep DIY fix. I am happy I did!

Arrived sooner then amazon said! Plenty of fluid in tube. You will have to adjust it by moving the tube up or down to align to zero. They also included stickers. Who doesn’t like stickers! Instructions also say to add some caulk. Now do you need this? No, you can put your ear up to the pipe and hear if air is moving through. But for a geek like me, it’s cool to see it and instantly know the radon fan is working. One could argue that it’s another spot to keep up with for leaks, but I don’t mind. The silicone caulk will last a long time.

The manometer is an important component of my home project that is used to measure suction pressure improvements to an existing radon mitigation system. As the new owner of an existing home, I am updating radon mitigation system, called an active soil depressurization (ASD), the most common type. The system main components consists of an exhaust fan, corrugated 4" PVC pipe collection grid, and sheet plastic in the earthen floor crawl space under the main level. Without any mitigation, radon measured 67 pCl using an activated charcoal sample kit. With the fan running, radon was lowered to 19 pCl, but well above the recommended maximum of 4 pCl. From closer examination I found the primary problem with the system was the plastic sheeting was not sealed at the walls, at overlapped joints and the main 4" suction line penetration. Air flow into unsealed joints bypasses the collection system and prevents the system from building suction pressure, a required condition. This has been an unpleasant repair because the walls are covered with R-19 batt insulation that interfere with access to seal the plastic sheet to the concrete walls. Work requires a breathing masks, long shirts & pants, eye protection and gloves. Plastic sheeting is fastened to the walls using brush on air duct sealer and fiberglass sheetrock joint tape making an air tight & permanent repair. The manometer measurees system tightness, where the higher the suction pressure the better. Suction pressure did not improve until the entire system was sealed. Radon levels have been reduced to 1.2 pCL, an acceptable number.I would have given 5 stars if instructions were better. I had concerns of moisture entering the open tube end, and freezing temperature of red fluid was not provided.
