Purchased some heavy duty sweats for my husband. The size was the right length but the waste was too tight. He is a post liver transplant patient so it is important his waistband remain comfortable. Purchased this product, put it on and used my steamer on it and then left overnight. Pants fit perfect.....even after washing.

I had worn 34" x 36" Levis 501s for over 50 years until recent abdominal surgery changed my waist size to 36". Rather than give away five pair of jeans (two nicely "worn out" and three brand new), I bought this stretcher. I soaked the new jeans, stretched them to 38", and tried them on. They actually felt a bit loose! Then, I washed them again and tried them on. Once again, try as I might I could not button the top button. Maybe if you stretch them repeatedly they will eventually hold the stretch, but I wanted to warn you: stretching even as few as two inches is probably not going to be "one and done" for you.

I had 2 pair of new 501s that were 32" waist that I bought a few years ago. I now wear 33 inch that is snug. I got the waist band wet on the new 32" and put the stretcher in place and stretched to hand tight. Every few hours I tightened a little more. When the pants were dry I was able to get them on an wear them around the house. The rest of the jeans fitted to my body as I wore them. I am now able to wear $90 worth of new 501 jeans.

This is a POS! The threads stripped out the first time I used it. Do not buy --it's a waste of money

I was really hopeful for this pants stretcher since I had the perfect use case for it (really expensive motorcycle pants that just needed a little bit of extra space, but also couldn't be tailored since it's waterproof performance fabric). While it has worked on the pants, I don't expect this thing to work more than 10-20 times due to how it's constructed. It seems to be made completely from the worst quality aluminum, meaning that it is very prone to stripping and grinding through regular usage. And to make matters worse, the amount of threaded area in the center looks to be around half an inch, not the entire body, meaning that any amount of slop will be pronounced and result in that much more stripping. I had attempted to alleviate the issues by greasing the threads with red n tacky, a grease that includes an anti-seize, but this product still continues to strip itself to hell, meaning you have to clean up the metallic dust while using it, and the threads get worse quality over time. The center bar has a thin layer of paint that gets dinged up with any normal tool usage, making the surface a bit scratchy, and using your hands will result in flushing pictured in some of the other reviews here. Given the price, I expected better quality materials like steel, but this is at least functional if you only need it once or twice. They include some extension bolts, but they only work if you are jumping up from small-medium waistline to extra large, meaning that I had to back out the original screws almost all the way in order to fully stretch the pant's waistline (around 29 inches) but couldn't use any of the extensions for it.

Where has this been all my life! I have narrow hips. Jean's that fit my butt and hips are always too tight in the waist. This stretched my new shorts waistband and now they are actually comfortable.

I've got several identical pairs of 501's and never understood why sometimes one pair shrinks up (I don't wash them often as you're supposed to and never put them in the dryer). Googled and discovered that these exist and there are many models that look identical under different brand names (hmmm...).Anyway, I added the smaller of the two extenders, wetted the waist and cranked it tight. Note that you really need two wrenches to do it right: one to hold the extender's turnbuckle and the other on the main tube. Then I'd crank it a few more times every so many minutes and it was tight as a drumhead. It says you can stretch it an inch and one thing is that there's really no way to know how much you've pulled it. So I just did it multiple times for a while and finally left it over night. Next day they were a different pair of pants that fit like they should. Not bad!Update: I stretched my second pair of Levi's and over-did it. They're too big right now so I need a belt to keep 'em from falling down. I'm not upset-they'll shrink down the next time I wash them (cold water). Anyway, I need to figure out how much to stretch things on a repeatable basis. Also, I tightened the turnbuckle and only needed one wrench this time.

A simple bit of engineering genius, the FirstChoice Pant Stretcher is one part practical, money-saving device and one part time machine to a happier, freer, more glorious time in life that will, regretfully, never return. On the first score, it succeeds handsomely. This pantaloon modifying device is made of solid steel and well-sanded wood. It's as tough and basic as the numbers on a scale. It also comes with some extenders for those in even deeper denial than myself. The instructions are a simple half sheet of single-sided paper (those of you in Mexico, French Canada, and points beyond will need make do with a big, fat guess as to how it operates) and I rigged it up according to the diagrams. The stretcher worked as smoothly as the icing on a glazed long john and I have no complaints there. However, it is on the second point where the FirstChoice let me down. Apparently, the 1990s are still over and there's no going back. What don't fit, won't fit, and maybe never will again. I haven't given up, but the waist I tried it on ain't about to give in. I will update this when I return to the Clinton era, a time when a surplus was good thing to have.
