Like other reviews have said, this easel does not lock into the "open" position, making it difficult to use when placing your object on the easel. At times, you will move one of the legs when placing your object on the stand, causing it to collapse. The display holder arms are mediocre at best. While they are height adjustable and lock into place properly, the fact they are slanted makes it hard to work with as your object may not sit flush.I bought this as I needed something immediately and it was eligible for same-day shipping. Unfortunately this product is not eligible for returns and I would not recommend purchasing one of these unless you are willing and have the time/resources to make a locking mechanism for it.

This is for when I do my events. I needed something to prop my poster boards on.This works; turn it to the desired position, and leave it the hell alone and you have stand. I do plan to purchase two more for my display tables. I like these better than the larger aisle banners, that can be very heavy to carry back and forth to the car.

This easel's holding mechanism is adjustable and folds up for easy transportation. I use the easel to display my books for sale at craft fairs and other venues. I have also used it to elevate jewelry display cases. It works well for books and small paintings.

Perfect for what I needed it for, an oversized coffee table book that's too large for my coffee table. Lightweight, easily folds up, sturdy, and is flexible in terms of adjusting the position of the support braces.

Wanted some stands to hold some 11x17 promotional posters for a booth I had for a convention. I saw these and figured they'll do the trick. Of course, you can only base your judgement off of reviews and pictures, and sometimes you don't have time to read all the reviews. So, simply put, do they work, yes. However, please note, they are very wobbly. By that I mean, when you open them up and spread them, you need to continue to hold and place it on the table and spread them out still, cause they will not lock in place. They will stand still once you've open them and place them on the table. But if some gently hits or bumps the table, these will fall very easily. Now, if this going to stay somewhere in your home where they won't be any obstruction, you should be fine. The holders, I don't know why I thought they were "small", they were fairly long. As to how much weight it can hold, I don't know. But it was able to withstand a 11x17 metal frame w/glass that I got from Aaron Brothers. That was probably 1-lb or less.Overall, they worked for what I needed them for. I purchased three, used them for only three days and haven't used them since.

Good quality metal. Needs a locking system for the legs to fully stabilise it.

Pretty flimsy and difficult to keep in place. I wouldn't buy this type again, I'd prefer the kind that have locks on the legs.

For the price, these are nice. I bought these for my budget-conscious school to use at fairs and conventions for displaying school info. If it's a "set it and forget it" deal for you, these are fine. However, if you are planning to use these in an area of high traffic with the potential of being knocked over/handled a lot, these might not be for you. I didn't realize these would be so flimsy - you have to achieve just the perfect balance when using them. There is really no tension in the rods - you're essentially getting 3 metal sticks joined together at the top with a piece that will prevent them from separating too far. Again, fine for light use, but if you need something a little sturdier, these are not for you. For the price, they will be fine for us.

Works like a champ! Used for 18" x 30" foam board mounted pictures from mPix.com. No issue with stability. Packs easily and installs simply. No issues here. The mounts also adjust to raise or lower the height.

Perhaps I got a different version of this tripod than other pleased reviewers or I have unfair easel expectations, but it looks pretty identical to the advertised image so I'm guessing this is how it's meant to be. I know I know, if it is as it appears in the image, why'd I get it in the first place? To my defense, in the photo it would appear that the legs aren't fully opened--if you look up at the leg mount area there's a gap that looks about 1/4", but unfortunately, this is in fact full open position. And heck, you just assume something so simple might do it's job without having to hold a protractor to your computer screen to confirm if the angles and tilt are correct. Not sure what the idea here is but the footprint is far to narrow to securely hold anything upright. For some reason there are secure tabs inside each of the the top leg mount openings preventing the legs from widening any further--if these had not been formed as part of the design it seems the tripod could open to a more stable footprint. The materials are pretty sturdy for the most part, however this does not apply to the underwhelming somewhat flimsy plastic support arms. The Easel is very easy to collapse into a compact size, but seems designed to collapse, if you catch my drift. So...I made some modifications in order to display my small letter board sucessfully (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002NT3QOI/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1).Necessary Modifications:First I bent all three legs outwards within 5 minutes of unpacking (not worth effort to return). It was still quite unstable so, cut the rear leg shorter with a hacksaw and relocated the end cap to decrease upright angle and reduce frequency of sign falling off. For my purpose the holding arms are far too long (and are seemingly too long to hold anything in the easels original state) so I have shortened and modified those as well with the trusty hacksaw and some amazing silicone putty (Sugru). Not worth the money, bad design, too much fidgeting, definitely would not buy again for *any* table top flat thing upright holding, no sir.

I purchased this as an alternative to carting a large easel with me when I paint outdoors, at the park and on my patio. It's sturdy and adjustable for painting lower corners of canvas. It also has a contemperary look that is very suitable for displaying artwork. It collapses to fit perfectly in my art-tote. A great alternative for smaller work areas.
