Sturdy construction, tight fitting lids that don't leak, and accurate measurement markings. Can't beat Pyrex quality.

I use this product to mix, dissolve, heat, and autoclave powdered agarose media for various clinical lab applications. When pouring hot media into petri plates, the media does not drip like the other Erlenmeyer flasks I used to use. I really appreciate that this product also comes with a pair of autoclavable caps for these bottles.

I have Pyrex glassware made in the '60s and '70s, which is still going strong. The letters and graduations are still clearly printed on the glass after 60 years. These bottles are built to last, and there is a higher initial cost, but they pay for themselves if you don't break them.

Products arrived overnight. I bought the Square 1000ml bottles with gl45 orange lids. They where bubble wrapped then double boxed. The two boxes fit tightly together so there was no banging things around. I paid more for the square versus round bottles. In my opinion , while compounding in the pharmacy or washing labware afterwards, the round ones tend to roll and get damaged much more. I like the flat surface to write on or place labels too. Not everyone needs to autoclave but name brand , higher quality , bottles are much more reliable. They are less likely to crack. I wonder sometimes how well the other brands temper the glass and to what temperature they are tempered. I am storing Phosphoric acid in mine for Ph adjustment in large amounts of water. I am growing some hydroponics but my tap water is Calcium buffered and Ph 9.0. Getting down to Ph 5.7 takes something serious.

I'm using these as expensive water bottles because I'm avoiding the plastic and metal ones. Most glass water bottles (even with rubber coatings) are rather fragile. These heavy duty Pyrex bottles can get dinged and banged without shattering. Obviously, they'd break if I dropped them onto concrete. They're a little big for the average hands, so plan to use two hands in some cases when you're taking a drink. Being Pyrex, they could be put in a microwave but they have a small plastic/nylon ring around the rim (to aid in sealing the spillproof screw-on cover), so I don't intend to use them in the microwave. As far as the liter measurement, there is NO 1000 mL mark on the bottle. Upon measuring, it turns out the one-liter mark is about halfway up the neck (where the bottle narrows above the square, flat sides).
