Works as described. Seems like a well built product and is very easy to use.Update: after just having it for one day, we were able to find the source of a mystifying CO leak in my duplex. Turns out our neighbor uses a hookah. Apparently they put out enough CO to cause alarms to go off - even through walls. This little meter helped me track that source.

Recomendable.

I stupidly couldn't figure out that the unit had the rubber covering that had to be removed to access the battery. Once I got past that and used it, it worked well. I feared I was being scammed by my air maintenance service that said I had carbon monoxide leaking from my furnaces. I took the unit to the attic after I received it and it didn't register anything from any of the blowing air sources. To test the unit I took it down to my car and placed it near the exhaust and it registered carbon monoxide and started beeping. This pretty much validated my suspicions that I was being scammed and the unit saved me from from panicking and spending an inordinate amount of money on furnace repairs. It was very easy to use and worth the money.

I use this meter daily while performing home inspections and it has not let me down. Is it as accurate as a unit 10 times as much? Probably not. But I think it is actually quite accurate. I can test with a stove running and bring it to the same spot and duplicate results time and time again. If you need to know with 100% accuracy whether the reading is 20ppm or 21ppm you may want to look up the price ladder. For me I trust the reading and the important thing is if it is reading anything when it shouldn't be or if the reading is high when testing things like a stove. Some have mentioned the battery compartment is hard to find. I didn't find it overly complicated but will just in case... Red rubber comes off and batt is behind on the back. Finally, it would be nice if you were able to silence the alarm. Stoves often put out higher than 30ppm and this will spook clients when they hear the alarm go off. Safety wise, probably better to not have a way to silence it on accident, but just a thought.

Nice product. If you can not find the battery accesses door simply peel back the red rubber surround that protects the unit. You will find it there. Took me some time to figure that out!! The unit works well. I tried in different spots in the house. Near the furnace especially as we had an CO problem there. We ordered this unit to monitor the furnace after our CO detectors went off after a new gas water heater was installed. The installer did a poor venting job.To test this meter I also went into the garage after parking the car and closing the door for the night. The CO meter read high CO in the garage. Walked outside to fresh air and the meter dropped to 000 as it should.

Product seems to work quite well:Some notes:1. The product, as some have noted, is shipped with a disconnected battery. To activate, remove the red protective strap - starting at the top - then remove the battery cover with a small phillips screwdriver, and connect the battery lead. Suggestion - toss the supplied chinese zinc/carbon battery and use a name brand alkaline battery instead.2. It is a throwaway product - lasting only 3 years - CO detectors seem to generally have limited lifetimes - at least in consumer grade products.3. The response time is not stated, so I checked it with auto tailpipe exhaust - it responded within 2 seconds, and started beeping as advertised.Interesting footnote: I bought this gadget because my Kidde Nighthawk CO detector started sounding off a few nights ago indicating very high CO levels. Turns out they are affected by RF radiation from nearby radio transmitters.- I actually had no CO problem.

I received this product today. It did not appear to work. I read the instructions and noted that the diagram showed a battery door. When looking at the back of the product in my hand it did not have a battery door! It was just a solid plastic case. So there was no way to insert a battery! The On/Off switch did not work. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with Pyle technical support and got put through to two people who could not help and then was told that I was being put through to a technician who CAN help, only to be put back in the general queue. However, there was an easy way out of this - just click on the Amazon 'return product' and the product will be going back and I will be getting my money back and it is no longer my headache. You have been warned!
