When we first received the Pergola and got it opened up we realized one of the post had been damaged on 2 sides. Something had clearly went through the box and put the post in a pinch. It appeared like forklift prongs to us. Anyhow long story short we contacted Purple Leaf and they gave us the option of a discount or new post. We preferred a replacement post because we had concerns about the tensil strength or the post being too compromised for wind, weight, etc. They promptly shipped the new post. It took my husband about 6+ hours by himself to put the together. It's got a lot of screws..alot.. 😂 Once the pieces are together it actually goes up fairly quickly after that. As everyone else says the instructions are pretty much pictures and for the most part are straight forward. We decided to use lag bolts and anchor the Pergola to the deck. (We are considering changing the deck around and adding to it in a few years anyways). If I get 3-4 years out of this Pergola then it is well worth it. Love love love the way this Pergola looks.
