The tool works as expected. The additional 5 data jacks and cable stripping tool makes this an excellent choice.

I paid 60+ dollars for the Punch down tool I cannot find. This is a good tool and the price is right.

I tried to make my home rj45 wiring work by using a crimping tool and pass through rj45 connectors. Not a single cable worked correctly.... Until I got this tool and punched down the ends of the wires. Every single cable worked correctly the first time!

So, for the good part, this seems to be a nice sturdy tool, and judging by the look and feel of it, it seems to be built out of solid and decent quality materials, no cheap plastic junk. However, in my case, the lo-hi adjustment wheel did not want to allow me to switch to the high setting. The wheel rotated almost all the way but not quite enough to flip the setting and stay there.Since I liked the way it looked and worked on the low setting, I decided to open it up and troubleshoot the problem, which was pretty simple and it is related to the alignment of the two plastic halves of the tool handle. There's a tooth on the side of this adjustment wheel which travels in its circular track from the one half to the other. Since this circular track is formed of 2 parts (in each of the handle parts) and it's a pretty close fit, a small alignment error can cause this tooth to stop there. All it takes is to slightly cut the burr at the junction to prevent this tooth from hitting the sharp edge and you're good to go.And since you have the tool open, you'll notice that although it does have some lubrication, it's just not enough to operate very smoothly, so take some good quality grease and lubricate all the parts in motion, including the side of the two knob/wheels (but only very lightly, otherwise it'll make your fingers slip on the wheels). I promise you'll be impressed how nice and smooth the tool will work and sound after that.

I live in an apartment that's almost wired, sans one jack in the living room that at first didn't work. traced it to finding some rj45 not being punch down (they left one for whatever reason not punched down) since we were rearranging the furniture and didn't want to strum a cable across, needed to get this tool to finish the job, and definitely worked as advertised. very sturdy, and well built.

Although I used this for a small cabling job in my own home, I've run cable at various jobs in my past. This punch down tool works great, seems very durable, has two double sided punch bits for different block types/connectors with internal storage for the extra bit, and adjustment for impact strength. The small yellow cable stripping tool is an industry standard for cabling guys and given how many I've used and lost over the years, I'm glad to get one with this tool because these are quick and safe to use. It arrived one day after ordering and I highly recommend it for anyone planning to run some voice or data cabling with modular keystone jacks or distribution blocks where cables are bridged or interconnected. I wish I had a few of these when I was running cabling regularly because it works great and is just as good as others I used for twice the price.

I purchased this punch down toolkit because I recently renovated my basement and decided to install a few hardwired network jacks in a few of the rooms. The only problem was that I had absolutely no firsthand experience doing this so I hit up YouTube and searched for some how-to videos. I ended up finding a great tutorial that showed me everything I needed to do and the guy in it was using a toolkit exactly like this one. When it arrived in the mail, I immediately put it to use and was able to complete the job with no issues whatsoever. While I'm not sure I'll ever need to use it again, it was so affordable that it was still money well spent.
