Nitrate concentrations greater than 50mg/L are harmful to sensitive fish and promote algae Growth, nitrates appear when excessive, fish only produce an urgent effect and anincreade in disease. Sensitivity to the disease may result in shortness of breath, poor appetite, and lack of swimming.

These work great for a quick check of aquarium water to make sure levels are good. I like using one when my water looks a little cloudy

Cheap and it works well enough. Just make sure your water company uses chlorine and not chloramide or this will show a 0 because it will not detect cloramide only clorine. Some websites might list what your city water has or you can call your water company and find out. Would be nice if it detected amonia though.

This is a well made product. It’s small and easy to store. It comes sealed so you know your product hasn’t been tampered with. The strips are easy to read and accurate. I’ve used them in several fish tanks before and after treating the water and on distilled and spring water to test it before it goes in the tank. This helps me create a better water quality for all of my fish and monitor their surroundings at an affordable price. It helps me when testing water before adding it in to figure out what the tank needs more or less of. For a beginner to moderate fish owner these work great.

I would have given these 5 stars but when I opened the package the box it comes in was ripped open on both ends, the seal wasn't broken though otherwise I would have returned it. other than that, it works really well, easy to read and clear instructions. I like on the instructions that it tells you what to do if the levels are out of balance.
