Heats up quickly and has a timer for up to 1 hour. Now I know it wont be left on.

It's a basic, no-frills Panini maker and grill and no-frills means it's super simple to use. Nothing digital to mess around with. No clock to set. There are only two mechanical knobs, one to set the temperature and one to set the timer for up to an hour. There is also no temperature indicator and the temperature dial just shows minimum to maximum, minimum being 110 degrees and maximum being 190, so it's not too tricky to hit the temp that you need. The grill arrives fully assembled. To use it you just wipe some oil on the griddle plates and heat it up to max for a few minutes. The plates are non-stick but it's recommended to oil it to season it before the first use. After that, a light spray of oil before each use should keep every thing from sticking. I did the seasoning thing and then, of course, I tried a grilled cheese sandwich for the first use. It was a good way to get accustomed to where to set the heat. The lid has a floating hinge so it self-adjusts to the thickness of whatever you're grilling. The grilled cheese came out fine with very cool looking grill marks. The lid folds all the way back giving you twice the grilling area for open grilling. Grease is channeled into a removable drip pan under the unit. Two lights on the front indicate when the griddle plates are hot and also when the timer is running. It dings when the time is up.The griddle plates are not removable, and it would help if they were, but actually cleanup isn't bad. You open the grill up and just wipe everything down. Not bad at all. This little Panini grill is going to be very convenient for camping and for cooking on the deck. I can't wait to try some steaks, burgers, or fish on it. I'm very pleased with this basic, simple, yet very useful Panini grill.

The 60 minute timer is super convenient . I can set it and forget it without worrying about burning my food.Used this for the first time to grill steaks and it was no mess, cooked perfectly, just 10 minutes, use brushed on oil to plates no sticking to plates. I used soft paper towel to clean off grills after cooled down with much ease and wiped it down to clean which was a breeze. Great price for all this can do.
