I have horrible allergies and my allergist said I need to get these encasements to mitigate dust mites. Wirecutter recommends these, so I tried them, along with another brand. I found these to be comfortable and quiet. They go through the laundry just fine. They seem pretty airtight when you zip them up, because with some pillows, you get an air bubble when you put your head on the pillow that takes a while to ooze out! They don't make me hot, or crinkle, and the size is good for the pillow. The mites are too small to see, so I can't comment on them... I can recommend them.

I expected good quality, but these waterproof cases exceeded my expectations. The construction is solid and the fabric is soft and smooth rather than stiff or crackley. I'm using them on down pillows, which tend to deflate a bit during overnight use, and these protective cases are so well-made and so air-tight that I've had to keep the zipper slightly unzipped about a half-inch so that during the day, the pillow can absorb air and get fluffed up again. Now THAT's quality!

These high-quality pillow protectors, the top choice of Wirecutter, are designed to be basically airtight, presumably to protect against allergens. But the practical result is wholly unacceptable: When you put your head on the pillow, it feels like a balloon. I found them to be unusable. I had already washed them and therefore did not feel comfortable returning them to Amazon. I gave them away.

I have the mattress protector of this brand which is great. The pillow protector has a few issues. It is very slippery. As such, my pillowcase usually slides off in the middle of the night. When fully zipped, it retains air from the expansion of the pillow and becomes a rectangular balloon that slowly deflates with head pressure. So I leave it slightly unzipped which helps - a bit.The moisture protection on this brand is good. But I’m not so thrilled waking up with my pillowcase wrapped around my head instead of my pillow.

I’m sorry to leave a negative review but I was really disappointed by the quality of these. The fabric feels too thick and synthetic (because it is, obviously). For comparison, I have a waterproof mattress cover by a different brand that feels much better and not so thick. These were much too large for my standard pillows, leaving extra fabric to bunch up and cause bulk under a pillow case. Lastly, the zipper is not placed as shown in the photos. Instead of being at the end seam, they’re about an inch in and covered by a bulky envelope seam. You’d probably feel the bulky plastic zipper while sleeping. All around, it was a no from me. I don’t think I would have kept these if they were half the price. I’m leaving three stars because they seem to be sewn well and I’m sure they’d do the job. Maybe the bulkiness wouldn’t bother some people.

I was having bad asthma sleeping at my girlfriend’s house because her dog used to sleep on her bed. Threw this on with a few of the pillow covers from the same brand and problem solved. They’re also much quieter than the mattress encasement I had on my last bed. That one squeaked loudly with every breath I took. This one does make tiny squeaks, but not very often, and pretty quiet. Not bothersome.

I recommend this Protect-A-Bed pillow protectors. Keeps the pillows from getting stained and me from pillow allergens. They wash in hot water and dry on high heat. They are quiet and comfortable. I have been pleased with their products to cover pillows, mattresses and box springs.

I did quite a lot of research on these encasement's before I actually purchased them. I found out they have to have scientific research behind them to back that they work. These have that. The bugs have to NOT be able to bite through. Also the zipper is highly important as well. These have a patent on the zipper. They actually have a zip tie to keep them from accidentally coming from unzipped. Now that's peace of mind if you ask me! Everything I read pointed to this specific brand, so I felt confident in buying these. They were easy to put on. They are very quiet to sleep on. We didn't notice they were even on the mattress. We have them on our pillows as well. They didn't seem to make us sleep any hotter than usual, and that was important. We sleep very hot and prefer to sleep as cool as possible. We just went through a heat treatment to kill off the bed bugs and put these in place. It has been two nights now that we have had them on and four days, and we have not noticed anything. I guess the heat has indeed worked. I hope we got these just for peace of mind. But, in any case We seem to be very happy with the purchase and highly recommend them.
