Every homeowner and do-it-yourselfer should have one of these. Never touch a wire without testing it first. I really like the feel of this voltage tester, the shape of it and texture make it really easy to hold on to. This thing has already saved my life once, I thought the breaker was off but safety first so I checked it anyways. The outlet was hot even though the one on the other side of the room wasn't. Apparently at some point in the houses life someone rewired in a weird way so one room was on two different circuits. I used my tester first, as I always do, and saved myself from what could have been a lethal dose of electricity. I should by a second as a spare.

travaillant sur l'installation de ma maison, je vérifie si les coupures de circuits se font correctement et s'il n'y a pas d'in version dans ls couleurs des conducteurs. cet appareil est extrêmement sensible ; par exemple il détecte la présence du champ électrique à 20 cm d'un tableau Legrand porte fermée.et surtout il distingue la phase et le neutre par une signalisation différente.

I have a Fluke and a Klein at my business.I needed one to check some wires on my second house. I did not want to spend the money for good brand so I bought this cheapo one. For what I needed it works good. Maybe first time I drop it, it will break and stop working. I don't know.However, the reason I bought the Fluke after already owning the Klein, is that my electrician told me the reason he switched from Klein to Fluke was that Klein would break when he dropped them and he uses these every day and a lot of his work is outside.

Well made and well priced. Like the pinned socket for measuring polarity and Voltage. The pen detects current from live wires. Recommend.

Moved into a new apartment with many electrical outlets, indoors and out. Unfortunatley, many of them didn't work. Some of them were connected to light switches, and some had faulty wiring. With this pen, we were able to see where the lines were hot - whether at the outlet or the switch - to diagnose where the problems were.I found this to be safer (i.e., gave me less anxiety) than the voltage testers where you have live, bare electrodes and have to touch both to hot wires. Here, you just get the plastic covered tip near a hot wire, and it will let you know there is power there. No live wires. And in the fase of light switches, in most cases we didn't even need to take the face plate off - it was able to detect live electricity (or not) from the outside.It's a clever solution, and made it easy for us to get our electircal situation back in order.
