I am using this propane weed torch to preserve fence posts naturally by charring the post bottoms instead of preservatives that harm the environment

I have a 1/4 mile gravel driveway and the grass and weeds growing over it has been an endless nightmare.Last year we spent (wasted) over $400 on top of the line name brand weed killer. The first problem with that is you have to wait for just the right window in the weather to apply it, then hope the weatherman was right (and they almost never are). This torch doesn’t care if you use it after, during or before a rain storm. My neighbor sprayed chemicals on his drive this year, that night it wasn’t supposed to rain but did. Now, 2 months later, all the grass in his yard is dead, his driveway is still thick and luscious. The rain washed it all off the drive and into his yard. That’s what got me looking for an alternative and I found this gem.The other thing with chemicals is you spray them on, then can be waiting up to 2 weeks to see if they even worked. This beast gives you instant gratifying results. With a gravel driveway it traps in the blowing seeds from weeds. When you use the chemicals it has to be absorbed into the plant from the leaves, it does absolutely nothing to kill all the seeds trapped in the gravel under the leaves being shaded out. So once the plant on top begins to die the sunlight hits the seeds below and they sprout and grow, the chemicals you had sprayed before does nothing to these new sprouting weeds and you often end up with an even bigger problem. This torch kills the plant on top and sterilizes everything below, including new seeds waiting to grow.My first impression was the can on the end is smaller than I was expecting it to be, however, the first time I fired it up and squeezed that trigger any concerns about it being under powered were instantly gone. It’s just terrifying enough to be a bit of an adrenalin rush using it. Squeeze the trigger and it’s loud, like a fighter jet kicking in it’s after burners. You can’t see a propane flame in the daylight, at first I thought the entire thing was too short (I’m 6’ 2”) and I was bending over trying to get it closer to the ground before realizing the flame must shoot out pretty good because there was no need to hold it close to the ground. Its hot outside today, I used it enough to get results and decided I’ll wait till after dark to finish, it’ll be cooler out and I can’t wait to see this thing flame throwing in the dark. I guess you could say it has built in lighting for day or night use.I’m daring winter to come, it rarely snows here, but at least once a year we get some. With a gravel drive you can’t shovel, blow or plow it. Last year we had to park at the top of the hill and walk back and forth house to car because even with 4 wheel drive you couldn’t get up our drive due to snow and ice. This year I’ll be melting it off and keeping warm by the heat of the torch while doing it.The pretty paint did burn off the can in under 10 seconds, but who cares, I didn’t buy it to hang on the wall and look pretty, it works absolutely amazing. You’re neighbors are going to think you’re a psychopath when they hear this thing and look to see you using it like a WWII flame thrower.I did almost order the back pack I seen to carry the LP tank, I’m glad I didn’t waste money on that, the LP tanks are heavy when full and certainly wouldn’t be much joy after about the first half hour of wearing it. It’s completely unnecessary, sit your tank on the ground, the 10’ included hose is plenty and you can just move the tank as you go along. I have a mid size 40lb tank, I used a little less than half doing 1/2 of my driveway so far, so that’s about 1/8 mile to 20lbs of LP, I wasn’t using it sparingly at all, I was having too much fun burning those weeds down to ash.

This is my second torch since the last one stripped the threads on the hose and fitting and I decided it was about a cheap to buy a new one as buy the parts and repair it. This is a different brand and I was skeptical about the 1,200,000 BTU's, but after using it, I'm a believer. This one without using the turbo lever is about as hot as my old one at full blast. Fully pressing the turbo lever on this one is scary. I'm glad I had a face shield on because I was burning some weeds growing in the saw cuts of my driveway and concrete chips started blasting me. I think I heard some weeds screaming. I tried to keep some distance from my flower beds because I was afraid the residual heat would kill them. This works great to kill weeds, start a fire in a fire pit, or burn a stump, but I don't think I'd use it in the fireplace in my house. There are smaller ones made for that that won't burn your house down. Seems to be well made and durable and definitely works well.

This torch is strong and has done an amazing job at getting rid of weeds in our garden, but be cautious - the hose got caught up in the head of the torch after I'd just used it and the head burnt a hole in the tube. I've tried finding a new hose but it's been tough to find. My fault though - the product itself is great.

The torch works very well however is advertised to kill weeds much quicker. It takes quite a while to burn the weeds fully and most of the time they will grow right back because they are full of water. If you are patient, this is a great product for a non toxic weed killer.

It is easy to use, easy to light, and (most importantly) it has a pilot light, so it's easy to keep lit! I hate continually using my sparker to light the old one. It is quite a bit shorter than I imagined, and, than my old one (about 8-10"), but I don't yet see this as a problem as you REALLY don't want to get to close with these! The BTU rating may be a bit exaggerated, but I am not quibbling about a few thousand BTU's. It's well made, reasonably priced, does what it is designed for, so that is the bottom line.

I don't remember why I bought it originally-- probably just because it seemed like a fun thing to have. I have since used it for lighting my BBQ, lighting my burn bin, starting grass fires to clear vegetation, killing spiders, killing lizards, killing ants, melting aluminum, soldering copper pipe, fusing milk jugs into a big ball of plastic (takes up less space in the outgoing trash), etc. Amazingly, I have use it for going on 3 years with just a single 20 lbs tank of propane. The flame is so hot and produces so many BTUs (joules), you rarely need it on for more than a second. It is only when trying to melt large aluminum items that you make a dent in your propane supply. Oh, and the best thing is the piezo lighter! When you don't have anything else around to strike a light, the Torch will get you going, even if it is just a cigarette!

This unit actually surprised me, how well it blows flame and how hot it gets. I wish the hose was longer, but it's not an unmanageable length either. I love how i can ignite it right from the handle. Great torch. I live in a winter city so I'm using it regularly to deice and clear my driveway. No more annoying tire strips that I have to chip off. Well worth the money on that alone. (If you live in Northern Canada you know what I'm sayin'....)

I got this for my ongoing battle with weeds and while it is only partially successful, I love using this thing. The roar of the flame heralds to the weeds that death does not come quietly in the night, but with full fanfare and dragonfire on a Saturday morning. I have found that if I go over the weeds with the purifying fire once, it kills them all, then the next weekend, I retrace my steps of destruction and cleanse the ground and burn to ash the dried up remains. This scorched earth method works pretty well, and is a fiery blast to enact.

This Propane Torch Weed Burner is an absolute beast! With its 1,200,000 BTU output, it makes quick work of burning away weeds and unwanted vegetation. But what really impressed me is how well it handles ice removal. In the freeze-thaw cycles we’ve been seeing more of lately, it melts ice from sidewalks with ease, making it perfect for dealing with icy patches in winter. The construction is heavy-duty, and the flame output is powerful and adjustable. A versatile, must-have tool for any homeowner dealing with weeds or harsh winters!

Love this gas powered one. Easy to assemble. Easy to hook up. Since I don’t like dragging a 20 lb tank around, I hooked it up to a hand truck with a bungee cord. I used it on a day with no wind and has the hose turned on nearby. It did a great job on the weeds. Just make sure to wear protective eye glasses if you’re using it on gravel. It gets very hot and the gravel expands and pops. The weeds will grow back, but this is a lot easier the using weed killer.
