I've had this case for over two years, and while it houses my instruments nicely, the bag itself is very poorly designed. Something of a shock for ProTec, but I will not recommend purchasing this flute bag to anyone.

Great case; plenty of space. Only complaint is the default headjoint of my piccolo does not fit in the main "piccolo headjoint" spot. The Pearl 165E Headjoint is too large, so I have to use the secondary slot with the little divot (that separates from a flute headjoint). I feel like this is a really common piccolo for people to use, so I was surprised it didn't fit. I don't think it's a really uncommon headjoint size/shape (it may be). I thought that the divot wouldn't be enough to prevent the two headjoints from scratching each other (purely speculative), but the pic headjoint does stay in place (no perceivable rolling around either).Overall not a huge issue, but I think it's important for people who buy this to transport two flute headjoints and two piccolo headjoints. There's a small chance if you have two larger pic headjoints they won't fit.Pic 1: How I Use It (works great, no complaints)Pic 2: my specific pic hj doesn't fit in the slot this wayPic 3: my specific pic hj doesn't fit in the slot or this way

I love this case and I use it to hold my B-foot flute, wood C piccolo and managed to also fit my metal Db piccolo securely as well. I love that the outside pocket has lots of room for other goodies as well. I'm a former pro-player not playing professionally any more, however this case holds all my necessities and keeps it all together nicely. It took me a while to decide I wanted this style of case, I have a handmade flute and it's original case is a lovely hardwood case, but since I also tend to be the resident piccolo player in ensembles I always had at least 2 instruments and a big bag of accessories with me, it's super nice to have everything securely and simply all in one bag.

I have been using this case for a few months now and am very pleased! It fits both my flute and piccolo very well and I have no concerns with it bending keys. For reference on the piccolo, I have a Gemeinhardt 4W (grenadilla) and the straight head joint is a little loose fitting in the case but the light pressure of the foam keeps it snug enough it doesn't move. Also, my flute has the extended B foot and some extra trills keys and everything fits well. I am able to fit a tuner and cleaning rods in the main compartment as well. Also - I read a review that an orchestra folder wouldn't fit. Mine does!! In the zippered portion on the back side of the case, I am able to put my folder with full-size music, a collapsible flute stand, pencils and cloths with room to spare. I was nervous to bite the bullet because it seemed like a lot of money for a case, but it looks very professional and was well worth the money. I am able to put everything I need in it and throw it on like a backpack and have my hands free to do other things, which is great.

This is my second protec flute case of this style. My first one lasted nearly 4 years, and being a concert Flautist in several concert bands/ensembles, my last protec case took a beating. I finally had to replace it, and am happy it was still available. The style is slightly different from my old case, mainly, instead of a full Velcro closure, there are 2 smaller pieces of Velcro, I like this change. The closure is snug and the Velcro is sturdy. The second difference is the sheet music pocket. There are a few zippered pockets inside the sheet music pocket, as well as places for pencils, clothes pins (most of you know clothes pins are a cheap staple for holding sheet music secure when performing outside venues, etc...). I am able to carry my flute as well as 2 piccolos in this case. 2 piccolos, you might ask, 2 Piccolo, why?, well, I have one for indoor venues, and one for outside venues: one is mostly metal, the other is made of wood. There is also a space for a tuner, which is very handy. Several of my flute buddies have started using this case after seeing this case in person. The only issue I had/have with this case is weight. It does get heavy with the more items added in it, duhhhhh...being in several different concert bands and ensembles, I have several different music folders that I have to carry, those add weight to this case. It can get heavy--just a word of caution. In my opinion, this is only a minor problem that I know I can deal with. I don't have to juggle around several different hard flute/Piccolo cases along with my music folders, I just place everything in this case and I don't have to worry whether or not I "got everything".As stated earlier, my first protec case lasted nearly 4 years; some may think that is not very long, but when you have rehearsals everyday of the week, including gigs on the weekends, nearly 4 years is a long time in the life of an instrument case. This case protects my instruments beautifully, my case has been dropped, rained on, stepped on, and it protected my very expensive instruments, tuners, and everything else I have to carry. The price for this case is small considering how hard I am on instrument cases. I honestly wish that there was another space in this case for a second (or spare flute, as I usually have a spare flute with me on any stage I perform on; let's face it, instruments can break or get damaged, even while performing--I was always taught it's better to have a spare available rather than have an instrument malfunction on stage).I can honestly say, when this new case wears out like my last one did, I will repurchase again, if this case is still available. I do wish there were more color choice options--if you don't have a name badge or if you don't use the included detachable name badge, several of these cases sitting side by side can be confusing--if more color options were available, other than black, this little hassle could be avoided, or, just use the detachable name badge. My fellow Flautists, I happily give this case my highest recommendation. It's so convienent, keeps everything protected and in place, and literally, "takes a licking and keeps on ticking", so to speak. I will be posting pics very soon.

I ordered this with a bit of skepticism. However, when I received the case, I was extremely pleased. It is very lightweight, yet offers a lot of protection. There is more than enough padding to protect the instruments from normal use and the occasional bang against a door or an accidental drop. Also, there is a lot of room in the pocket for music, tuner, pencil, glasses and screwdriver set. The reason I bought this is because of its weight. The case is designed for a flute with a B foot joint, although a C foot joint could be put in as well. There is a slot for an extra head joint into which one could put a second piccolo if one is not concerned about an exact fit. I'm not really sure what the square compartment is for (cork grease or polishing cloth I suppose). The piccolo section is designed for a wood or plastic piccolo, but a metal piccolo fits as well. While I am quite pleased with the case, I'm still not sure if I would put my professional flute and piccolo in it. Perhaps it is psychological, but I prefer to keep the Powell and Haynes in a traditional case with case cover. That being said, one could use the case for any style flute and piccolo combination.
