Product Description

Catalyst Polytip Filbert 6 Short Handle

This short handled Catalyst Polytip Bristle brush by Princeton features a size 6 filbert head. Catalyst brushes are designed with a stiff yet still extremely responsive synthetic hair that has real integrity in water. Each individual hair has been split to replicate the natural flags on the finest natural bristle. Designed for use with medium to heavy-bodied acrylics and oil paints, catalyst is able to hold a higher volume of paint while providing a smoother application.

Catalyst Polytip Bristle

Catalyst Polytip Bristle brushes are another Princeton breakthrough that advances the science of synthetic hair. This new series is super stiff yet still extremely responsive. Unlike natural hog bristle, Catalyst has real integrity in water. Natural bristle can be rendered useless when it is water-soaked. The true advance in Catalyst is the Polytip feature. For the first time, the tip of each individual hair has been split to replicate the natural flags on the finest natural bristle. By giving each individual hair 2 to 3 distinct tips, Catalyst is able to hold a higher volume of paint while providing a smoother application. Designed for use with medium to heavy-bodied acrylics and oil paints, Catalyst pushes even heavy gel media with assurance. Catalyst Polytip Bristle brushes truly are tools that move paint.

I read a book called A painting a Day. The author wrote about these brushes. I like them they're well made. I haven't had any problems with the bristles being flimsy or uneven. They're relatively inexpensive, but if you take care of them they last.

I recommend this brush for painting in acrylic on paper or canvas. Love the longer brush length over what I used to have— old, bristle, stiff brushes. What a difference this type of brush makes! I am buying more in flat and round styles. You won’t be disappointed

Well made and reasonably priced. Works with stiff oil paint and with acrylics, too.

I adore these brushes! I purchased the size 6 and 8 Filbert and would like a smaller and larger brush now. They're pretty awesome with acrylic paint.

Short version: it is an excellent brush and will be worth your money.Long version: I have tried all sorts of brushes out there... cheap and pricey. I purchased the #6 Filbert (short handle) and absolutely love my new brush. I’ve only had it for a few days but it’s been subjected to lots of oil paint and cleaning, and I am pleased to say it does not splay like a natural hog bristle brush would after the extensive use/washing I’ve put it through. I’ve noticed other brushes separate when wet/in use but this one does not and I am very glad for that. The brush also has the perfect balance of softness and spring, especially for my firm oil paints.I honestly never considered purchasing a half synthetic / half natural bristle brush but I am glad that I purchased this brush. In just a few days I’ve come to the conclusion that it was worth the money I paid for it, and I will certainly purchase these brushes again in the future.I have not tried it with acrylics yet but am almost certain it would perform just as well.
