Our son has been interested in tracking and hunting. We bought this set so he could learn to call. It was a great buy, well made.We couldn’t not (even after watching several videos etc.) learn how to use the tongue call. But from what we hear it is hard to learn. It does not change our view on the item

I used to own a business and I sold this product for a while. The mouth reed is OK. Good for beginners but they are not the easiest call to use. If used properly they will sound like a hen. The little pot call actually sounds quite good for a plastic call. The slate surface and striker produce quality sounds. Good enough for a beginner. The box calls were hit-and-miss. Some of them sounded good enough for a beginner to fool a tom. Many others were not made correctly. The lid was fine but the lip of the box where the lid strikes had the wrong angle. They sounded awful. I was able to fix some, but not all of them. I hope they fixed the problem. Testing them prior to packaging is good idea. For this same price you could by a single, high quality box call. If pressed for a recommendation I'd suggest the Lynch Fool Proof single-sided turkey box call. It produces all the necessary vocalizations and sells for $45. Good luck chasing those crazy gobblers.

I am not yet a hunter, and am trying to ease myself into the activity with minimal expense (as it can be quite costly). As such, this combo pack was a great choice, as it provided me with three common types of call to try out and get comfortable with before heading out in the field.I was pleasantly surprised to learn that a piece of chalk for the box call is included (as others have mentioned), as it was not listed in the description. That said, I am (like others!) disappointed that the diaphragm call included is different than the one pictured, as that one appears to be a bit simpler for a beginner to use. Perhaps that's not the case, but it would be helpful for the item photos to be updated to include the new type of call. The instructions provided for the slate pot and box call are easy to follow, but the instructions for the diaphragm call are short on details and I can't quite figure it out yet.I haven't yet tried these calls out on real birds, but I am confident that any failure to attract them would be a flaw in my technique and not these tools, which appear to make the sounds they should, when and how they should.I'm sure seasoned hunters might take issue with the entry-level quality of some of the items, such as the fragile pot call and lightweight striker, but for a novice or someone looking to try a different kind of call, it's hard to find a better deal.

I got it as a starter pack, but probably won’t change them out unless they get broken. Killed Turkeys with the box call and the slate call. Lost my striker and replaced it with the Primos 777 one. Really easy to use and Primos has a lot of videos on YouTube to teach you how to use the calls.

The calls in this set aren't the best calls on the market, but this is a great value for someone new to Turkey calls (or who hasn't been hunting in years like me). Get these and figure out which one(s) you feel most comfortable with, and also get some practice with the others: they each have advantages and disadvantages. These are perfectly capable of working in the field, but I used them for practice and then upgraded based on what worked best for me.

Everything seems in good shape. So far I get why the order of difficulty goes from Box, to Slate, to diaphragm. I also get why the authenticity of the noises goes from Diaphragm, to Slate, to Box. The box was very simple to figure out but it just sounded like wood screeching to me. The Slate call sounded very realistic but the mouth call sounds best, or maybe it’s just me. That all being said, I’ve not taken myself to the turkey woods yet so we will see if I know as much as I do about the subject.

I'm not a turkey master, but I have played with a few of these through out time. The slate is really good quality and has a great sound. The box call is the easiest and has a true sound. The reed caller takes a bit to get used to since especially if you wear partials or have a sensitive gag reflex. I've researched several different vendors to find a "all in one" package and this one takes the whole factory. Packages deliver fast so that you can get the practice in and get to calling.

Good bargain assortment of turkey calls. One price, one purchase you get a mouth diaphragm call, a box call, and a slate (pot) call with a wood striker. Admittedly - these aren't the top of the market, or even the top of the primos line. BUT they will do the job and as such are worth the price. I'm not an uber serious turkey hunter so I'm not going to break the budget on a vast selection of top of the line calls or to spend days tuning a custom one. These will do just fine for all but the most accomplished turkey hunters. With some practice, I am able to make a variety of realistic sounding turkey noises with these. I am not, and will never be a champion turkey caller... If your a guy like me, ie somebody who wants to get out for a day or three twice a year when turkey season opens up - then this will hook you up. If competition, and travelling state to state going after grand slams and trophy birds is in your future then these probably aren't for you. Is the tone perfect? Probably not... But I don't have the ear to tell the difference. I also don't have the ear to tell a Strativarious from a flea market fiddle. Remember folks - the Native Americans used to fill their pot with a wing bone scratched on a rock....

I don't know much about turkey hunting but the starter pack was great. It gives you a few different calls to use and practice with. What I appreciated more than anything was the great customer service provided by LG Outdoors. I screwed up when placing my order and scheduled my delivery to my old address. After I realized my mistake I emailed and called LG both people I had contact with were very helpful and made sure that my shipment was corrected. I will be buying more products from them in the future and I would recomend them to my friends for there hunting equipment as well.
