Flat spine can be very difficult to put in especially if it is not brand new right out of the bag. Some frames even then it dos n ot work. This .185 spine goes in much easier with the ribbed outside and hollow inside you can finish you job in 1/4th the time and it grips well and stays in. Of course we will have to see how well it ages.

I checked local stores and Home Depot /Lowes etc, and these are the only bulk DIY screen making materials I could find. I got the Prime-Line frame kit, spline and corners. The frames feel a little flimsy but once they are installed they are just fine and do the trick, and they look great. So much cheaper than buying individual screens, and easy to cut and build. I made replacement screens for the whole house for just over $100 and a few hours of time.Make sure to get the right thickness of spline for your screen application - the 0.185 was what I needed for the Prime-Line frame kit that I got. The spline did take about 10 days to 2 weeks to get to me, it was shipped directly from Prime-Line whereas the frame kit and corners came directly from the Amazon warehouse and got there much sooner. I had to go out and get another pack of spline because I ran out, I just picked it up at Ace Hardware for $6.99 (about a dollar more than on here, not too bad).

Bought to fit some linen into an IKEA cabinet, where we had knocked out the glass to make a speaker door. Fit perfectly into the grooves! Plenty left over for another project.
