This one is on me. Far too small for at home screen building with a router.

We have lots of screens that needed to be redone. This gave me plenty of spline at a great price.

I had to replace the screens at one of the rentals I maintain. It is a new rental so this was my first time dealing with it. The screens use metal splining (cannot remember the brand that does, but I do not like those guys). If you do not know, metal splining cannot be removed and reinstalled well. It is this soft, thin, and specifically shaped aluminum that bends easily and cannot be bent back straight. You can do it, but it takes forever and probably will not be perfect when put back in. It is also a pain to find stores that carry it, and expensive when you do. I typically just replace the whole window screen including the frame because it is cheaper once you factor in labor and frustration (can you put a price on that). I found some thread online suggesting this spline, and I could not be happier with it. It fit perfectly, and saved me a lot of time, money and frustration. Super happy with this.

We were restoring very heavy duty window screens that were installed more than 60 years ago. The original screen was brass and the spline was metal. The frames were still strong but paint peeling. We could not find spline of .25 inch anywhere else and what a great deal this was. We did find it twisted a little so we found that installing each side individually with both a rubber mallet and the spline roller tooled made a difficult job easy. The spline held well and is very good quality.

I couldn't find any splines locally that are thick enough for my frames. This one ended up being one step larger than the one I needed. Luckily I was able to stretch it so it fit in the channels. The roll sides are cardboard and were half crumpled and not very sturdy. Initial thoughts are it's a good value and I'll have plenty of spline for the future. Time will tell whether the spline will outlast the vinyl windows.
