I installed these to replace the original 1970s brass pocket door handles. There’s not much to grasp when opening and closing but neither were the originals. I did have to chisel some more wood out for them to fit but it that was not a big issue. Otherwise they function quite well and the locks are used extensively For my dementia mother’s safety. I use a coin to unlock from the other side and there have been no chips or wear After six weeks.

ProsIt functions as advertisedThe oil rubbed bronze look is accurateThe price is lower than averageConsMaterial looks nice, but feels super cheap (just tin and plastic)The template calls for extra work of a curved cut out but appears a rectangle would have been fineI imagine this goes for all locks this style but the strike plate must be VERY precise to function smoothly and not get stuck. So take your time with that part to make sure its perfect. Overall I am satisfied with this lock, but had I seen it in person, I would have likely paid the extra $10-$20 for one of heavier grade materials.

Bought as a replacement for an existing pocket door. This unit feels more durable, and I liked the larger dial on the lock which makes it easier to secure. Basic instructions, and the included template worked well.

I looked for a pocket door lock FOREVER...online and in store. I felt like there was no middle-road option. In stores you find cheap crap that barely locks and online you find locks that cost upwards of $500 and need specialty mortise cuts in the door that cost even more. I am so glad I found the Prime-Line Pocket Door Privacy lock! We've had it for over a month on our main bathroom and it works fantastic. Definitely the best pocket door hardware I've used (I've been to houses with the cheap style before). This lock not only looks nice because of its larger size than the cheap little ones, but the locking mechanism actually feels substantial and you feel it click nicely in place and it is secure. Unlike the small cheap ones where you feel like a stiff wind might open up the door and expose you for everyone to see. I love that the other side has the ability to be unlocked with just a flathead screw driver or even a coin, and that has come in handy when my 4 year old locked herself in and panicked. She is able to lock/unlock it, but it was new and she felt trapped and got scared and I was able to open it for her. It's easy to use and looks great on my door. I highly recommend this pocket door lock as the perfect middle-of-the-road product that isn't cheap, but isn't absurdly expensive. The oil-rubbed-bronze is a little different than my bathroom oil-rubbed-bronze, but it still looks great and has a nice upscale look to the door.

I had this for 9 months now. i replaced one that was a little rusty. it was not the same size as the 40 year old one so i had to do a little modding/cutting on the door. you can set it up for a left or right hand pocket door.Pros: it is nice looking shiny polished metal. it is thick and not cheap feeling.Cons: i wish it was 6 inches tall so i could grab it with my whole hand instead of a couple of fingers. i am not complaining just saying it was not the exact same as the one i had so i had do some wood working with the drill on the end of the door for it to slide in. but once i installed it you could not tell i did some drilling on the door.bottom line: i would buy again.

Awesome, exactly what I needed. Easy install. Easy to change configuration for any left or right door so it works for any direction (see in the picture, that screw to the front, next to the round lock - take that out and that side comes off...do the same to the other side and switch them) easy to install, just need a saw to cut a chunk out of the door to slide this in. High quality and nice looking. When installed, there was a metallic clunk when closing the door as this handle butts up against the lock plate you install in the door jamb...for this, since I have kids who love to slam these doors, I simply installed a couple of thin sticky sided rubber spacers in the door jamb...door closes hard, these keep the door closing ultra quiet.
