We have a 36x36x63 for the daytime, and this shelf holds the 'stream' for drinking and bathing.4 bolts give you a good leveling range. I love the outside retainer isn't just a washer, but a short plate from the same as the rim of the shelf. It can orient vertically or horizontally, and it spreads the stress of supporting out over a good space. We suspended a few small toys beneath it.Trying to determine if I want to add a second one.

I have a bird cage full of stuff for my parrot. This platform is her favorite of everything , who knew the don’t alway like to perch. Shes sleep on it and drags her toys on it to play. Very well made and as sturdy as the cage itself.make sure your cage is big enough for it. I only had fone corner that worked well away from her 3 feeder bowls. Nice to get a quality piece for such a good price . Lot of cheap stuff out there not worth buying this is not one of those

I saw this where I board my military Macaw. He liked it better than the wooden stick perch.Of course he is going to get the good stuff when he got home.

I decided I need to write reviews when I like things and not just when I don't (oops!)I got this shelf for my double flight cage that has finches in it. It's big so be sure you measure. I wanted to 'bring the bottom up' a bit - since the finches aren't using a large part of the cage and like to congregate at the top.I am using it to hold a bath jar as well as a plant, and it works great. It's much easier to clean the bottom of the cage if I have things elevated and can slide the grate out more easily but still have things in the cage. I'm getting another one so now will have one for both top & bottom of the flight cage.I painted it with a water based paint to lighten it - and yes, would be nice to get it in other colors but at this price I can paint it.No issues attaching it to the cage and it's really sturdy.

IN SHORT> Nice and big, a full 12" radius> Well built> Installed almost effortlessly in my cage. Not designed for Pervue 485 cage , but can be installed with a little difficulty> Same pewter gray "night camouflage" which is great for hiding droppingsUSESA good general purpose platform. I use it for a 10" diameter terra cotta flower pot dish, which is my Senegal's "swimming pool". The terra cotta dish is perfect, as it is the perfect depth, it is too heavy for my parrot to lift and dump, evaporation from the sides of the dish keeps the water fresh and cool, and the rough surface is easy for bird feet to grip.INSTALLATIONThe holes in the sides of the shelf itself are threaded, so you mount a "strip washer" on a winged machine screw (provided), push it through the bars, and screw it into the side of the shelf.SHORTCOMINGThe only significant shortcoming is that the leading edge of the shelf is very narrow---there's really no place for birdy feet to grip. It would be ideal if Prevue supplied some sort of slitted tube which would fit over the top edge to form a perch.> Click on “Stoney” just below the product title to see my other reviews, or leave a comment to ask a question.

I would have given this shelf five stars, but there are two minor problems with it. The first one is that the outside curved edge of it is too wide for the bird to hang from it and flip over to the underside (I do have a small bird, a conure, and it might work better for a bigger bird, but I still think the edge should be a little smaller). The second problem is how it fastens. In the picture, the bars on the cage on either side go up and down. On many cages, mine included, the bars go up and down on one side but side to side on the other. So when I go to fasten the shelf with the nuts and the metal plate, they have to go sideways on the one side and up and down on the other, opposite the way the bars go. When I do this, the side that goes up and down puts the bar immediately over the hole for fastening the metal support bar, so to fit on the cage, it's missing one of the fasteners. Not all cages will have this problem, but mine does. Even with this, it fits very securely, no wobbly, nothing. It's also a perfect match in color and design to the cage, so it almost looks like it came with it.I will likely buy a second one to put at the bottom of the cage, to make another shelf nesting area. Sturdy, well-constructed, great addition to a larger bird cage, and doesn't take up a huge amount of room that would hinder movement, but plenty of room to sit on and play. I recommend it.
