Presta valves seem to vary but schrader vales do too. If you leave these installed, then to use you have to remove, open the presta valve and reinstall adapter to air up. Then remove again to close the presta valve. I've found that you have to open the presta the perfect amount, not all the way and possibly not screw the adapter on as far as it will go to get air chucks and gauges to work.

If you have a bike with a presta valve, good luck finding anywhere to fill up your tires. The cat majority of places that have compressed air only have fittings for schrader valves. This allows you to use the equipment for filling tires with schrader valves to also fill tires with presta valves. I always carry a couple of these in my tool kit on my bike that had presta valves ... just in case!

Bought those to use an air compressor at a gas station to fit my road tubeless tire. Attach it on the French valve and hold it by hand while sending air, installation done in 5 secs!! Much cheaper than buying expensive inflator pump or CO2.

There is absolutely nothing more irritating about being out on a bike than discovering that you need to pump up one of the tires, and only then discovering that this bike's tubes have the wrong kind of connection for the air hose at the gas station. That's where these come in. Yes, the *process* remains annoying; you have to remove this adapter, unscrew the little nut to free up the valve core, pop it a bit to make sure it's not stuck, reinstall the adapter, air up the tire, remove the adapter, retighten the *&^% nut, and then put the adapter back on so that you've still got it next time. Life would have been so much easier if the bike's manufacturer had just used wheels that accepted Schrader valves? Right? But they didn't. So you need these. And with half a dozen, if somebody makes off with one of yours because *they* forgot to bring one, you won't be out of luck yourself.

I put these on my bike so I could use my makita battery air compressor. They screw on easily and so far are holding up. For bike tires the makita battery compressor is great and these make it possible to use so I’m happy.
