Ordered two pins, neither would charge. Returned pens and ordered two more. I will try and see if these will work.

I think this is a bit of a game. It definitely picks up signals, but it doesn’t help you know what they are or what kind of device it is. I didn’t really like it. I heard at the same day. I got it.

Admittedly, I don't have any highly-professional tools available to me to compare this with. However, my testing proved that these do know how to detect devices to at least some degree!I think the most important thing to remember with these, is that the bugs you are looking for may not always put out a consistent signal. That's why I'm actually a fan of buying a multi-pack, and glad that's what I had. Each device has a decent curved range, so you bug certainly does not need to be directly in front of the device (a feature I feared). When placing these devices in a room, they did successfully detect things like our phones pinging to the network, SMS messages being sent/received, the Wifi router, and a location tracking device. The instructions are okay, and there's a video included as well. Using the device is fairly intuitive, if you're the type to play and use without looking at the instructions. They feel pretty good in hand - I wouldn't say they feel stocky, but they certainly don't feel cheaply made either. They fit great in your hand, and I love how small and slim they are to slip in a bag.Ultimately, I'm pleased with the function of these. They don't necessarily give you instant gratification of locating devices, and you need to be diligent about moving about the room, but they do seem to do what is expected of them.

Prepared Hero appears to be a good brand, I have their fire blankets, so I have confidence in the company. I got these privacy pens and I was very interested to have a way to detect cameras, etc. Once I charged them and watched the video with the directions I tried the first mode of detecting bugs and cameras. It worked the way he described on the video, but I didn’t find it accurate. Sometimes it found things and sometimes it didn’t. These were in my house and car where I know there are cameras and trackers. The second method involves a infrared light. It needs to be dark for it to work properly. I think almost any infrared light might work for this purpose, and I already have an infrared flashlight that is larger. I use it in hotel rooms to look for bedbugs and stains. The third mode I think I will find the most useful. You turn it on and hang it on a door and if someone opens it an alarm will go off. I think this will be great in a hotel or place that you are in for the night (or even not the night) and you want to be alerted if someone comes in when you are sleeping or not in the room the door is in. I tried this and it worked very well. This package comes with 2 pens, each with a charging cord and lanyard to hang it on. The pens are small enough to fit in a pocket or handbag. I gave it 4 stars because I don’t fell like the first mode is as accurate as they portray.

When I saw these detectors for hidden cameras, listening devices, and GPS signals, I jumped at the chance for multiple reasons. The first one was that I had just watched one of those crime shows where there had been hidden cameras that caused murders or stalking, something along those lines. The other reason was that I found a hidden camera that someone had gone to a lot of work to conceal, and if it weren't for the glint off the lens one day from a passing vehicle, I wouldn't have known it was there. After they noticed that I had found it, the camera was quickly moved. I was reading the included instructions which talk about turning off your cellphone's signal (airplane mode or turning off) and any wireless routers to detect signals from unwanted wireless devices, such as cameras. I haven't stayed in a single hotel of any type in the last decade that didn't offer free WiFi. Granted, most of these fall under the category of "You get what you pay for!" speed-wise, but there isn't a way to turn them off. Okay, so we turn the detection down, got it! The problem that I encountered was that no matter what, neither one of the pens I received did anything to find signals. I charged both pens with the included USB-C cables, which I think is great that they used a standard connection that almost everyone already has. I turned on the first pen, and unlike the bearded guy in the video guide, my pen made no noise. I would set the pen on top of my wireless MESH router and would hear maybe 1 or 2 quick chirps and nothing else. No sound while approaching or walking away. I could do the same with any number of wireless cameras around me, and unless this detection pen was sitting on the Ring or Wyze camera, there was no sound. When sitting on top of any detection setting, I would hear a few random chirps when the pen was being set down or being picked up. I also tested this with several different brands of wireless IP security cams around the building, with zero sound. The IR setting worked if it was dark enough and you were paying enough attention. However, while testing IR mode with a camera on the other side of a window or two-way mirror, it doesn't work. The door alarm worked well, and that is about the only use that I can think of for these pens.**To note, testing was done in a home, a home office in a separate building but near my home, a workshop, an office in a large office building, and in two different hotel brands.🐻 *Statement/Disclaimer: This review is part of Amazon's Vine Program which provides products at a reduced cost in exchange for sincere/frank reviews.
