It is very sturdy. The only downfall I had was the bottom inside broke pretty easily (pretty sure that MAY have been due to who I had put it together) however, the flooring that broke can easily be reinforced! It's well worth the money I spent on it and my dog LOVES it!

Good size wood house for large dog. Only fits one big dog though. Cute and simple. Easy assembly

I would have given it five stars if the floor was a little sturdier. Otherwise it's a great piece

I have three dogs they all enjoy going in to the dog house. Two of the dogs are very large, and they also fit very nicely.

This is a great insulating kit. I live in Northern BC where the temperature can dip as low as -45C in the dead of winter. This insulating kit, combined with a heated mat and a peice of heavy canvas over the door opening, keep my Greater Swiss Mountain Dog cozy in her house through even the coldest winter nights.

Purchased 2 for our beasts in case of inclement weather while we were at work. I've put off buying any pet house for years because all I ran into were expensive and had horrible reviews. This version had some of the best I've read (with the exception of shipping/damage woes). The house: Sides and bottom are thin cedar, roof is a composite of layers (plywood, shingles, etc). Roof is very susceptible to damage during shipping. There is absolutely no protection for the corners of the product in the box. The box itself is thin which ups the risk of damage. One package arrived with right side of roof destroyed, one package was fine. I called the company direct to see if they could help - no such luck. Horribly rude customer service. Called Amazon and ordered a replacement package. Week later it arrived with the front and left sides destroyed plus the middle was bowed. Tired of the frustration already and irritated that I had to drag a big heavy package across down to return it (and wasn't going to do yet another replacement), I simply took both apart and pieced together one good dog house for a total of 2 useable houses. Dogs enjoyed them and hopped right in. Ours are 55lbs and 70lbs and had plenty of room inside. In fact that evening a stray kitten wandered in our yard and decided to hide in one of them. Promptly both my dogs and the neighbor's pit bull joined the party and rocked the house until we hear the commotion. No damage to the kitten or the house. So if you are wondering if a big dog fits in there, um, yes. The range listed on the package/site for this house is spot on.Overall the houses look nice, are decently sturdy, and weren't hard to put together as packaged. 5 minutes max! My damaged ones took me a few hours but only because I had to meticulously deconstruct and then reconstruct. Would I recommend this product? Meh. Only if you were willing to deal with the delays and frustrations of broken houses.

I would actually give it 4.5 starts (5 with a better stain and heavier duty floor). We have two outside cats. Last winter my wife lost a lot of sleep putting hand warmers in a kitty carrier to help keep the momma cat warm. This year we have her and one of her kittens we kept. We needed a better shelter for the two kitties. So, we purchased the small extreme version together with the insulation package and related door for about $160.Pros:1. This was snap to assemble with a small pivot driver screwdriver. It took about 15 minutes.2. Insulation package fit perfectly and has removable flooring. It has a washable canvas cover and the floor is soft.3. Roomy enough for two full grown kitties to fit without straining the weight capacity of the house.3. Offset door which allows cats to cuddle away from the elements in the back section.4. Elevated floor to keep kitties dry.5. With door installed, the temperature can be maintained and they are more protected from rain/snow.Cons:1. Lightweight. May be easily damaged by a rambunctious dog.2. Wood floor is in three pieces and quite light. May be a problem for a 20 lb dog, but works great for two cats!3. One of the sides was not drilled for perfect fit, but is fine with the installed insulation package.4. Could have a better stain job. I resealed with a clear deck sealer to provide better weather protection as the stain matches my pergola and fence color perfectly. We also purchased a microwave pet bed warmer to provide an additional heat source other than the two cat’s body heat. The house, door, insulation package and bed warmer work well enough. The male (7 months old) took to it as soon as we put it outside. It took the momma (yes she is now fixed) a couple of days before she got comfortable using it. It does a good job in the rain with the door installed. We did not install the door until the cats got use to using the house. So far, the house seems to stay warm enough and dry enough for the kitties!Recommendation: Be sure to orient the door away from the direction you generally get the most rain. We get the most rain from the NE direction. Next is from the SW. So we oriented so the door faces W so the protected side of the house is on the S side and is less exposed to rain and wind.Hope this helps you kitty owners!Kaos
