Yes, the guard does appear small, but the reality is, you don't need a giant, hard plastic molded contraption to prop open you child's mouth. It's intimidating and makes their jaw hurt. This soft molded piece (size medium) fit my 6'2 adult autistic son just fine and allowed him to tolerate the procedure without any resistance. Big thumbs up!
