Although fairly expensive compared to aftermarket similar items, the product is of high quality and fit perfectly.

This is a heavy base, yet it arrived in a crushed, punctured, lightweight box with no foam or padding inside to keep it from sliding around. The base wasn't damaged, but it seems like a small thing to add some protection for such an expensive mobile base. Unfortunately Powermatic designs some of it's machine bases with curved cabinets in front. While the machines are prettier that way, non-Powermatic rectangular bases don't fit well. However, even Powermatic bases don't fit very well on the ends because the bases are made to accommodate the "ears" on each end of the cabinet bases. There is about an inch gap on both ends between the machine cabinet and the mobile base. Finally, the knobs that screw through the base and against the wheels to prevent the machine from rolling seem like a design afterthought. My knobs couldn't be screwed in without first clearing the threads with a heavier bolt. It also seems that screwing a bolt into a rubber wheel will eventually damage the wheel.

should be ashamed at this product. plastic screw as wheel brakes arrived broken, and the jointer barely fits on it.. It makes my jointer bouncier and unsteady.. black and decker could design something better..

My 54hh doesn't fit snuggly into this base at all. This picture is very misleading. The frame doesn't even come close to touching the base of the jointer when centered on this frame. Installing the jointer made me wonder if I was missing some sort of adapter or if I was supposed to build one or something. The mobile base is too wide, and supports only an inch or two of each of the 4 corners of the jointer. Moving the jointer against the edge of the base causes the opposite end of the jointer to fall through. Placing the base of the jointer onto the mobile base is a centering-act. I worry that continuous vibration could cause the jointer to migrate along the base and eventually fall through it. I don't like moving the jointer on this base along my garage floor, and I wouldn't dream of moving the jointer on even the smallest slope sort or bumpy surface. The poor packaging caused one of the cheap plastic wheel locks to break off in shipment. I had to break off the rest of the sharp plastic and use pliers to twist the bolt to lock and unlock the wheel.I hate operating my jointer on this thing, and will have to secure the base somehow to keep it from swiveling, which it does even with all wheels locked.I'll be shopping for another base and going through the headache of migrating my jointer, or perhaps building some kind of adapter.

Excellent - though expensive - addition to a wonderful jointer.

This is a nice base but the one feature that is missing is the ability to disengage the front wheel. I have mobile base for my other equipment and they all have the swivel wheel disconnect. The Powermatic wheel has a lever that mast be push down to lock it but it can still move.

Purchased the base on Amazon in January and received promptly and with free shipping as advertised. The mobile base had a good finish, nice ball bearings on the hard rubber wheels. When i installed the Jointer, fit was perfect. The unit is ridgid and allows me to move the jointer as needed. When locking the front wheel and screwing in the holdfasts into the rear wheels, the jointer is immobile - I couldn't push it forward, backwards or sideways - just what i needed and was expecting.
