This is a great little gadget for making mash potatoes without lumps. In the past I've boiled my potatoes and then put them into a large cake mixing bowl to blend them smooth and honestly, sometimes you still end up with some small lumps. This item works like a really large garlic presss and easily pushes the boiled potatoes through the holes to create delicious, unlumpy mashed potatoes. Great gift for the chefs in your family.

It’s one of those things you never think you need, but when you have one you never want to be without one. It’s great quality, non toxic and easy to use. Idk why I expected it to be smaller, but it’s a good side for its purpose!

I'd used the round ricers before. I really can't say I prefer one vs the other. This works well.Ricers are really the way to go for smooth or semi smooth mashed potatoes. Of course they can be used for making other mashes as well... cauliflower, carrot... canned chickpeas to humus (can give a semi-smooth texture so everyone knows you didn't just spoon it from a grocery store container).

Works better than any other ricer on the market.

I've had potato ricers in the past, usually (and oddly) made of plastic. All broke or were just too hard to use. This ricer is magnificent! It's heavy duty, substantial, and moderately easy to use. It definitely does the job, and doesn't clog up or cause my arthritis any more damage than necessary. Definitely the best potato ricer I've ever used, built to last for years! Definitely recommend!

There’s the regular hard to clean of anything with lots of tiny holes, combined with the fact that it doesn’t come apart so washing angles are awkward, at least in a small kitchen with no detachable sprayer for the faucet. The real problem though is there are thin gaps where metal pieces come together that food WILL get in. I scraped it out as best I could with a butter knife but it was really hard to see if I got it all or if some food bits are left to go bad in the crack.100% MUST CLEAN RIGHT AWAY. You really don’t want to have to try to get hardened food out of those cracks.Otherwise, it worked to press pomegranate seeds (with some waste), and bananas (royal pain to clean after). I am going to assume it handles potatoes fine given that it is in fact a *potato* ricer. Not sure that I would recommend it though, despite doing what it’s made for. I found out after getting it that many ricers have swappable holes of different sizes that make them more broadly useful. Unless you only plan to use it on a few things that it’s optimal for, I’d go for one with more versatility myself.

My husband swore to me when we got married that he didn't like REAL mashed potatos. He says he doesn't like the lumps -.-......I told him that not all real mashed potatos have lumps, it matters on how they are made!!! I swear this man didnt beielve me or something but i never had a way of proving it to him. Then i finally had the idea of using the cheese rotery on the diced poatos and although it DID work....it was a frikan mess lol Here comes this LOVELY gadget! Its so great and works really well! i love how big it is, some small potatos i dont even have to cut, others i only have to cut in half! This really does make them smoooth as ever without lumps! My husband now says that he will eat real mashed potatos as long as I make them because he likes them better then the fake flakes :) I am a happy wifey!!The product itself worked really well and smooth, there was no pinching unless I was stupid and didnt hold it right lol The ricer IS dishwasher safe, I have used it about Three times now and I put it right on the bottom rack in one of the baskets for utensils standing up and it cleans just fine. I also put it on the top rack laying down, it also did just fine, and just for fun I put it on the top rack bottle jets, it was clean everytime I pulled it out of the dishwasher, no signs of rust or anything (but I also have the drying mode on the dishwasher). The shipping was fast and im very happy with this product and find myself using it as much as I can, MUCH easier then the cheese rotery (but if you dont have a ricer yet, thats a good idea for thoes who dont like lumpy mashed potato)
