this device did what it is supposed to do. I needed to read a couple of old IDE drives I had. Worth the money. Quick delivery

This unit worked fine when I needed to access data on the harddrive from my old computer. I'm still accessing the data with no problem.

This did and outstanding job of reading my drive and recover files from an older drive I needed to use and had lost on the drive it replaced. So glad I did not pitch that old drive and saved it!

I had a hard drive that was on a windows 7 computer and the motherboard failed. I was able to remove the hard drive and transfer most of the important item over to my iMac. I had several people people tell me that it wouldn’t work with an iMac. They were wrong. I’m not a computer expert and this made it a very easy process.

Dead. No power. Plus cable for drive power is too short. If you do it just right it can fit but what a waste. I want my time back. The time trying to get this useless product to work and the lost time of not getting my drive data.

Used to get data off of my 15 year old hard drives. Worked like a charm. I bought for IDE drives, but it turned out I had a SATA drive that I did not know about. Fortunately this baby handles both. Super fast transfer rates.

Sadly, few things are as described or as promised. But this one??? It's fantastic.Everything you need is in the box - device, USB 3.0 'beefy' cable, power supply, and small power jack for IDE drives.I ran this thing successfully on 5 drives - 2 of which were old IDE drives. 1 drive I connected was questionable and did not spin up. I don't recall if it was dead 2 years ago or if the device wouldn't work with it but I'm 98% sure it's the old drive's issue.READ THIS! When connecting old IDE drives, this works just fine. But you need to read the fine manual that comes with it. You MUST select MASTER / SINGLE DRIVE with your jumpers on your old IDE drive. Usually a drive shows the location of the jumper on the label with these old drives. It won't work with cable select which is where most of these IDE drives have their jumpers. Once you get this corrected, you'll be able to power up and see the drive post.If you deal with data recovery, either for yourself or others, this is a vital tool to own at a very affordable price. If only we had something this small, compact, and fast 30 years ago when I started in professional I.T.

I can't imagine how people were having issues with this thing - it's pretty straight forward. It only works with platter drives, so that means no SSDs. I was able to plug in my old HDDs going back as far as the 90s. The MOLEX connector made it easy to power up my really old drives, and every single one of them connected without issues, just as long as the jumper pins were all in the right positions.I think the people who have the most issues with this product don't understand what type of drives this supports, or don't understand that they need to move the jumper pins to the correct position for their computer to recognize the drive as a readable slave drive.Great product - worked perfectly fine for me. 5 stars.
