I like compact depth-finders for my canoe or float tube, and this one detects suspended fish as well, unlike some of the other "flashlight" style depth-finders I've used in the past. I bought the transparent plastic case as well to keep it safe from water damage. The rechargeable battery does not last super long, but good enough for my outings.

For the price point, this is an amazing little fish finder. I have been thoroughly impressed. I fish from a kayak where a full-size fish finder would be impractical to mount and use, so I bought this Venterior as a smaller compromise, not expecting the performance to be so impressive. It has been a very pleasant surprise. I like the fact that it is castable and that is exactly how I use it. For my application, I think that is a big advantage over a transducer that is fixed to the fishing vessel.

This little fishfinder is a nice addition to my fishing kit. Towing the sonar ball when in a slow drift allows me to see where the fish are and cast to them. I do think I'm a more successful fisherman using it. While it doesn't have the bells and whistles of a Garmin, it works great for me.

I like that it functions as it should and is able to detect fish unseen from the surface. Wish it had playback so we could use data for charting and recollection of conditions during and after use, but I guess that would be asking a bit much for such a price point, so ride what you've got and make the best of it. Easy to use. Instructions are in ENGLISH as well, and in a font that doesn't need magnification to set it up. Definitely better than blind sight fishing 💯👁

Why waste time fishing in "empty" water! Venterior Portable Fish Finder can help you to locate where the fishes are before you cast your line out. Keep in mind that this fish finder does not work properly if you drag it behind your fishing boat because the waves can cause it to give false signals. Get the right kind of Venterior Fish Finder if you intend to use it while trolling.

The transducer quit taking a charge. I only took it out 2 times on our kayaks. They do work very well. When I reached out to Elva in customer service who responded quickly and had a new transducer shipped out asap. Excellent customer service

Can't say enough good things about this fish finder. Sensor is easy to cast using a medium rod, connects instantaneously to receiver as soon as it hits the water. Readings appear to be accurate although fish sizes are subjective, not sure what they consider small, medium or large. Receiver is a bit hard on battery life so I only use it intermittently. Highly recommend this product!

This is a niffy unit. Very compact and easy to use. It seems to be quite accurate except when ice fishing. I think the 90-degree sonar beam bounces off the sides of the ice hole and does not read the depth well. It would be better if the sonar angle was adjustable or more narrow. I'll keep trying.Up-Date: After a few more outings I'm getting much better results. And the ice has been even thicker so I think I was having issues due to settings. After getting more familiar with it I can say it works quite well. Very happy with it.

The folks at Venterior are extremely helpful, and very responsive. Best customer service experience I have had with any fishing gear company. Be sure to register your product per the instructions.Definitely get a waterproof pouch that you can wear around your neck for the receiver. A 6' - 6'6" heavy or medium heavy pole with strong line is tough enough to cast the transducer.Read the manual when you get it. The receiver has plenty of customization to suit your fishing. The display is big, bright, and easy to analyze. Alarms are adjustable, and can be quite loud.I used this fish finder for kayak crappie fishing for its first test. I was able to hit multiple spots where I thought crappie would be, and move on after only a few minutes of fan casting the transducer and getting no fish alerts or indicators. I cut my fishing time down by 15 minutes a spot, and made better use of my paddle time. I finally paddled to a spot with 90 degree cliffs, water depth of 37', and water temp in the 50s. I cast the transducer out and instantly got fish alerts. The fish depths on the receiver were between 15' and 11'. I left the transducer bobbing in the water while I fished. Within seconds I had fish in the kayak. You don't have to stare at the receiver once the alarms and icons are set and you have some familiarity with the setup. This finder is easy to use, extremely accurate, and easy to carry. Don't wait to buy one. It will make your fishing trips so much more enjoyable.
