This is a tool with a single purpose, and it works very well. I occasionally do a lot of firewood cutting, and it's necessary to sharpen the chainsaw chain fairly often. I learned from professional woodcutters that it's more efficient to sharpen the chain frequently and keep it really sharp, rather than to use it for a longer time and let it get really dull. This vise mounts easily on a stump and holds the chainsaw firmly by the bar, while allowing the chain to still rotate so that the user can sharpen the chain. I can even attach my favorite sharpening jog, as shown in the picture. I like this chainsaw filing vise and I expect you will too.

This thing works well. It holds my saw tightly while I work on it or sharpen the chain etc. I don’t have to worry about knocking it over or getting mud in my chain. It easily sticks into a stump or piece of wood I cut. I would recommend
