It records radio to the cassette tapes as well as its voice recording function with attached small microphone holes.

I knew the sound on this would be mono, with its single speaker, but I was hoping there might be stereo sound with headphones; no such luck, and even in mono the sound quality isn't great. I did appreciate that it can run either with 4 C batteries or with the included AC cord. I'll probably keep this as an extra emergency radio and keep looking for a portable cassette player with better sound quality (will probably have to buy something vintage, I think).

Hey, I'm old school. I remember when we used to have boyfriends make mix-tapes for us, and that was sweet. So yes, I'm of an age where I've still got like a 100 cassette tapes around with stuff I haven't put on my iPhone or bought on CD. Wow. Making myself sound like a dinosaur here, but yes, I've lived through a ton of different format changes in music. So that's why I wanted this mini-boom box for my office. I can play things I haven't heard for decades. I bought a tape recorder/player from a second hand shop a few years back, but you can imagine how well that went. So I'm glad to have this one, which I can use to listen to the radio (which also still exists!) with the antennae extended, or play tapes, or record. And I love the versatility of being able to plug it in to my electrical outlet in my office, or unplugging and just using batteries to take it on the road, for a picnic or lunch out of the office. It does a lot of different things, but I'm not really technologically inclined, which is why I still have cassette tapes (and frankly, 8 tracks in my mom's house. Sheesh!) but I was just looking for a way to play those old songs I loved. No, I'm not so music obsessed that I've gone through the Apple library and downloaded everything to my phone, because that seemed really time consuming and annoying to have to do. I just wanna be able to play the tapes I used to love, so this machine allows me to do that. Retro vibe, because it's somewhat retro tech, but with a more modern twist. And yes, I did have to buy more C batteries, because I didn't have them any more. This machine takes 4. Maybe I'll make a mix tape for my hubby this time, with its record feature. I'm very happy and have tried it and it works, both with batts and plugged in. I'll experiment more over time, but for now, it's exactly what I wanted and I'm over-the-moon having this tech back in my life. A++ And did I say it's good looking? Basic matte black, but not jumbo, like those old boom boxes. It's mini enough to sit on my bookshelf (yes, I still read hardcover books, too) without dominating the room. And of course has a little speaker built in. Love it.

First of all, let me say how surprised and delighted I was that Amazon is selling brand-new cassette tape players! I have a box of home-made cassettes that I've been longing to hear, but I didn't want to risk using a second-hand device. Now, after a few decades, I'm hearing voices and music from the past. I couldn't be more pleased and overall I'm delighted with this item. This nice, small device runs on batteries (4 C batteries) or via a power cord. It's easy to operate, and the user guide itemizes all the controls so you know what's what. You can play, pause, record, rewind, and fast forward--but you still have to eject the tape to listen to the other side! One thing that is slightly annoying to me is that the button names (e.g., Pause, Play) are printed in a small font in white ink behind the buttons. Without sufficient lighting, they're a little difficult to see. The Record button is printed in red to help prevent you recording over existing material. So far, I've only listened to some cassettes and the radio, so I cannot speak to the recording or USB capability. I have listened via the single speaker on the front of the player and through the headphones, which was not high-quality stereo. It was pretty much what I expected. I see there is the ability to record from the radio, which is how we used to make our playlists!Although the product description says connectivity is available through Bluetooth, there is no other reference to it, either in the description or in the user manual. Rufus also confirms that no information is available. Perhaps it's just a typo. I'm also a little disappointed that there is no mention of a capability to transfer what's on your cassettes to your computer. If you're tech savvy, you can probably figure out how to do that! And of course, you have to use your own pencil to fix the cassettes!!!
