I keep fresh water fish (African cichlids and koi) and saltwater fish. I routinely do water tests on my aquariums and pond for PH and salinity. To do this I need a PH test kit with reagents and a chart for PH measurements and a refractometer to measure salinity. This meter does both easily as well as temperature (I currently use a non contact thermometer to measure temperature).The results are fast and when compared to my current methods, very accurate. So why 4 stars? All of these meters require constant maintenance and periodic calibration, which I think is a pain. The probe should be stored in a 4M KCI solution and it should be calibrated with the included test solutions. All this takes time. If you have many tanks and do daily water tests then this is for you. If you only have a ew tanks I don't know how much time you will save.

Okay, I don't have an aquarium, nor do I have a salt water pool. But what I do have, is a need to know what my hot tub pH level is.I tried using those strips, but the color is nowhere near the color range on the bottle. This devices allows me to test my water pH, and it digitally gives me a reading. I tested my water, and it was at 8.4 - a bit high. I added some pH decreaser a few times, and now I'm right at 7.8. Perfect!

We got this for our salt water pool, mainly to check the salt and ph levels. It is very easy to use and comes with great instructions. You have to calibrate it first with the 3 different solutions. It comes with enough solution to calibrate it regularly and last awhile, which I really like. Others have a couple uses and then you have to buy more calibration powder or solution. I tested our pool tonight and the salt levels matched those shown on our salt system, so it seems to be accurate. Our ph was 7.6 which is within range and we do pay for weekly pool maintenance so I'd assume it is functioning well and providing accurate results. It is quick and easy and will be a great tool as we are considering cancelling pool service to maintain it ourselves. Just be sure to read the instructions in their entirety as their is a lot to know, like keeping the tip wet at all times. I am very happy with this device and it is well worth the cost.

I really like the fact that this meter lets you test for multiple things in a single unit. For me this is pretty ideal as I only test things every once in a while so it's not a big deal to calibrate before I use it. If I were doing something where I needed it every day then I would probably invest in stand alone units that stay calibrated better. As others have said, this meter can drift over time if you don't calibrate.

I ordered this YINMIK Pool Salt Tester to verify the PH in my aquariums. The instruction pamphlet is in-depth and does a great job of walking you through every step. I like that the solution for calibration are in their own jars, and not some small packets.Before I used this, I calibrated it and calibration was easy thanks to the step-by-step instructions.In regards to accuracy, this tester is giving me the exact PH as reflected on my Milwaukee PH dedicated probe tester - the only difference is that this Digital 5-in-1 tester needs about 10-15 seconds to really dial in the PH readings. So if you have a little bit of patience, you'll get accurate readings every time!

Edit - the ph tester is already out of calibration and I had to recalibrate it after just 3 uses (see the new second photo). It works, but having to test it each time and recalibrate frequently, makes me miss my old ph meter and makes me apprehensive about trusting this meter in the long term. I’m lowering this to 3 stars. A meter needs to be dependable, reliable, and accurate. My fish depend on this.Here is the original review ……..This 5-1 tester comes calibrated for salinity/ppm, temperature, and EC right from the factory, but needs to be calibrated for ph before being used. The tester kit comes with 3 bottles of different ph reference solutions for performing a highly accurate 3 point calibration. Calibration is easy and took a couple of minutes to set up and do. The tester cap comes with a small sponge inside that should be ideally kept wet with a KCl storage solution, to keep the probe in the tester from drying out. The cap does leak a little bit when the probe is stored on its side - and remember - the probe within needs to stay wet. To prevent this from being a problem, store the meter in the upright position if possible, and/or check it every few days to make sure there is some moisture in the cap.Note - the directions state that water can be used to keep the cap moist instead of KCl solution. My other digital ph tester’s directions said the exact same thing, and I did filled the cap with water before storing it for several months. I’m now replacing that 4 year old meter because it just will not calibrate without giving me errors, and I now have KCL solution for storing this new 5-1 probe. I would recommend getting the storage solution, and further recommend that the company considers adding some of it to this kit. It’s cheap, like much cheaper than replacing a ruined testing meter.I’m primarily using this meter to help perform water changes on a newly established aquarium, and it’s been a nice addition to my tools. I have a truncheon for EC/PPM, a digital ph meter that also measures temperature, and a seperate PPM/TDS tester. This new 5-1 meter means less fussing around with several different meters, and makes things more efficient for me when I need to balance my water parameters for my aquarium. I also make my own hot sauces, and the color of the sauce makes using ph strips or liquid ph test kits impossible. This would be very useful for determining the ph for purposes of storage and shelf-stability in acidified foods and ferments.Picture - the new 5-1 meter on the right replaces all the tools on the left side.I will have to come back and update this review later, after I see how long this meter retains its calibration and how accurate it is over time. As of now, it’s performing well and the results line up with the results I’m getting from my other meters and test strips. This meter would easily be a 5 star device, but the leaky cap is concerning, after having replaced several similar devices over the years to probe failures and leaky caps that dried out the probe. It also would have been nice of them to include a small bottle of storage solution in the kit.

This device is probably the most efficient tester I've used. For a multi functional home meter it checks out well for all my home uses. It has the 3 function display simultaneously. I mostly bought it to use for my pool, but I've even found it useful for gauging the brines we do with our pickling and foods.
