Very happy with this string. Cuts out the shrill shreech of the previous string.

A typical set up is a Pirastro gold E string and Dominant 135B mediums for A, D, and G strings. I like this set up, and have been using it for years. But, that said, you have to be happy with how your instrument sounds wrt how you play.

I had recently decided to switch back to Dominant strings, but like many other reviewers here, I can't stand the sound of the Dominant E. Seeing how popular this E string is as a substitute, I decided to give it a try. I accidentally ordered loop-end instead of ball-end at first, but after the return was made (thanks for making it super easy Amazon!), I switched on my new strings. And WOW — I was blown away with the quality of this string. It's loud but not harsh, it's brilliant but not screechy — it really sings beautifully with my other strings, and stays in tune/broke in quickly. Would definitely recommend.

This is one of the most popular E strings. works well with most of other brands like Dominant or Helicore.Somewhat over rated like most of other strings but that's how it is.Personally, I can't tell the difference between this and other steel or aluminum E strings.Nevertheless, this is good E string that works well. If your violin produces harsh sound with this, try Obligato.
